I've rambled here for several years and have generally had a great time readin & writin. Of late, the flaming is out of control. I'm self-editing or avoiding posting altogether. BN gives us free 24/7 access and for some that means "freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose".
I for one don't believe in 100% free speech. It's time for the administrators of this site to edit/restrict the content because any fool's comments/attacks aren't as important as the purpose of the site. That purpose IMHO is spreading the pleasure of JB music.
I'll be back when the folks in charge regain charge.

I know Jimmy Buffett, Jimmy Buffett is a friend of mine. Son, you're no Jimmy Buffett!

Re: Movin On
Although at times I've been guilty of both of these things, it was only out of frustration at certain posters who's behavior was certainly out of line but for whatever reason was allowed to continue. I suggest bringing in impartial moderators that won't hesitate to ban offenders or lock a thread when it devolves into one of those cheese/pie fests just because someone has brought up a topic they've deemed unworthy of discussion. A FAQ section on the message board might also be a good idea so some of these questions can be answered before the usual newbie attacks begin just because someone asked about "Fingers". Yep, just like in the Coral Reefers Salary thread, I'm sure this post will be followed up with more smart aleck responses which no longer comes as a surprise in these waters. If you're guilty of doing so then it only illustrates how these people are part of the problem, not the solution but the bigger question looms, will anything ever be done about it?Quiet and Shy wrote:I'm not sure it's right when he's the one who's going...I think that's the point and problem that seems at times to be growing out of control.Tiki Bar wrote:I agree Goodman. Something tells me that Captain Buffett wouldn't put up with the increasingly routine name calling and personal attacks.

Yeah, I have to agree with all of this. Sure, I’ve been in many battles around these parts and unintentionally got people riled up at times for the same reasons Jahfin mentioned. The primary reason would be for my campaign for CD remasters of the early albums, which no matter what new information I may present or what fresh new spin I bring up, people still accuse me of beating a dead horse, which is basically just telling me I can’t talk about it here. I dunno, the way I say it, if people can bring up cheese and pie 100x more then I bring up my restoration campaign (which has more then enough to do with the subject matter of the board), I think I’m more allowed to keep posting about that when I feel I want.
The main issue here is that the “clique” and its associates have written an invisible list of “forbidden topics”. Bring these up, prepare to get blasted with rudeness as well as your thread being stripped down to nothing which cheese and pie and other crap.
They are (but not limited to) the following:
1. Album Art/Liner Notes
2. Why Fingers Taylor left the CRB
3. Coral Reefer Salary
New info and research can be brought into the picture to make all of those topics fresh, as well as the fact that this board doesn’t have a set number of members. Newbies arrive almost daily I’m sure, and will want a personalized heads up on what’s on their minds JB related, rather then searching through dated archives. But, what do those facts matter here? Sorry, their “dead horses”…
Take if for what you want, but this is what I see as the main root of Goodman’s concern.

Nice try Parrot Monkey but where are the others that aren't afraid to challenge the status quo that unofficially rules BN (or at least like to think they do)? I know they exist because from time to time, they do speak up. Will our very legitimate concerns actually be addressed or will this be yet another thread that regresses into the usual pie and cheese BS? Given my past experience here, I'm guessing the latter but I sincerely wish that wasn't the case.

I to hate the fact that when I have to replace older albums... that these new cd's are busy tryin to sell me penny saver albums from Kool and The Gang and Elton John... and you lose all the original info that came with the original album... but I understand why the labels dont fork out money to re-issue, they dont have to cause we're gonna buy it either way... but from a fan standpoint... I admit, I would like to see original art/photos/notes in my A1A, Havana Daydreaming, Last Mango... etc. etc. cd jackets...

EVERYONE here does. Many just don't know it yet or won't admit it, or would have to actually see such physical products (and hear the improved sound) to realize what they've been missing.HsvParrothead wrote:I'm gonna step out on a limb here and state...Parrot Monkey wrote:1. Album Art/Liner Notes

They are members of the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Housing. the ASPCH. You should refrain from doing that unless you are a licensed contractor.I bring up, people still accuse me of beating a dead house, which is basically just telling me I can’t talk about it here.
