Does this mean all the people that are fat will be forced to move or else be evicted from the city, or get a ticket or go to jail if caught outside in public???

Will restaurants be limited to strictly lettuce and boiled cabbage soup for choices on the menu???

What will happen to all of the people that work and own all the great and various eaterys??

Think of all the closed restaurants and unemployed people....THE HORROR!!! STOP THE MADNESS!!!

SHEESH!!!!

Well...not really...

They just want to make a concerted effort to get trans-fats out of prepared foods...

Trans-fats are what they're bypassing when they do all that bypass surgery.

It's a typical Bloomberg half-assed move, but if people are gonna kick smokers out of bars, I have no problem with attempting to provide healthier food for the general public.

For all that everyone freaks out over smoking and second hand smoke, the truth is that obesity and poor eating habits and lack of exercise kill more people than smoking and second hand smoke put together. To pick on one factor while ignoring the other is hypocritical.

Besides, the better restaurants in NYC are probably already just about trans-fat-free as it is. Hydrogenated oils are cheap and flavorless. Most good restaurants are using olive, avocado, nut, and canola oils in their food prep.

What a load, I can't remember what it was but they're wanting to put warnings on pop, and candy all this BS. I hear people say you should only eat for "fuel". BS, if that's what food was put here for God, wouldn't have made it so damn tasty.

God didn't make trans-fats. People did.

Look, this is a request for voluntary removal of trans-fats where possible. It's not going to be a crime to be fat or to use trans-fats. First of all, if you can eat nothing but fruits, veggies and whole grains and be fat, so that's a non-starter. Secondly, it's merely a request. I'm all for labelling -- if you want to eat vats of lard, go for it, but I don't, and I'd like to know what's in my food before I put it in my body.

The thing that bothers me is that the people who are the most vociferously opposed to any kind of attempt at preventative health measures are usually also the ones who b**** and moan and complain about the rising cost of health care. Well...it ain't the healthy people driving costs up. It's the unhealthy people, and the number of unhealthy people can be drastically reduced by adopting lifestyle changes such as quitting smoking, eating healthier foods, and exercising more.

So, if you want to eat trans-fats, smoke, and never get off the couch, fine. That's your right. Just don't complain about how you can't afford to fix all the problems your choices created later on down the road. If you want to dance, you have to pay the piper. Make sure you can afford your choices and that you can live with the fallout for them.

I b*tch and moan about this stuff and I'm slender  I eat bad quite a lot, but I'm in pretty decent shape. It's not the governments job to protect people from themselves. It's like them telling McDonalds they can't have extra large value meals anymore because it's making people fat. No it's not, it's the lard asses who have no self control or respect for their bodies who make them fat (in most cases). Who gives the government the right to ruin something people voluntarily choose to do to themselves, damn well knowing the consequences.

except for the smoking part, I can agree with you. (and we are not talking cigarettes, or illegal substances)

Amen brother! Absolutely 100% true! I give it 10 years before they just rewrite the entire constitution to allow it to fit better into this pansy-ass PC society that we've become....

Our founding Fathers would die (again) if they knew what our society had become. That's why I vote Libertarian 8)

EXACTLY!!!!

The goverment recomendation for red meat is what.....??? how many eggs? Etc...

How many people are gonna settle for that????
Humans did not get to the top of the food chain by eating hay, treebark and nuts and berries....sure you survive off of it...maybe...look at Euel "Ever eat a pine tree??Many parts are edible." Gibbons.... look what happened to him.... he died anyway.

So you eat ,right, get proper rest and exercise, and regular check-ups from your doctor you know what that means??? Your still going to die!

Just you won't have enjoyed as many good steaks and baked potatoes with butter and sourcream or huge bacon cheeseburgers and fries loaded with salt...Seriously I do understand about eating balanced meals, 12 oz in one hand and 12 oz in the other.... but you can go for hevier weight....such as 16 oz and 16 oz or 24 oz and 24 oz or even higher... highest I ever went for was a 32oz but I am outta "training" for that now...

Was or still is a nice restuarant in Tucson named "Pinnacle Petes" used to be able to get a 32 oz steak for around $12.99 and baked potato cost $1.00 and you got a salad and all the beans you could eat! I am sure the price went up since I was last in there.

Personally the only thing that I think is wrong with some of the meat produced is all of the growth hormones and antibiotics and what not they give to animals for quicker production and eventually man being the ultimate in user...recieves the ultimate ends..... I firmly believe that wild game is healthier to consume than processed beef is....and the wild game is 100% all natural....

my Great Grandfather lived his entire life off eating fried duck/quail and bacon for breakfast, then stuff like fried chicken at night...he lived to be 99. Both my grandfathers ate nothing but down home southern cooking (lots of fried food)...they lived to be almost 80, but died from cancer, not heart problems or whatever......and none of them were fat or even close to it....

but now we have the government telling us how to eat
