First time poster here, but a longtime Buffett fan (since soph year in high school - too many years ago).

Anyway, I just rediscovered how good "A White Sportscoat..." is. Finally replaced the worn out cassette with a cd.

Who is the poet in the song "Death of an Unpopular Poet".

Thanks.

He has said it wasn't any one particular person, but a lot of people who have influenced him. Richard Farina, Kenneth Patchen and Lord Buckley have been mentioned specifically.

I've always thought it fit Jack Kerouac pretty well... don't know about his dog's name, but he died sadly in Florida....

I know it isn't but it would be fun if it were Richard Brautigan. Both he and Buffett hung out together in Livingston. Richard had a nice red barn up Pine Creek. Richard killed himself in 1984 in Salinas, CA I believe.
