I'm Hot!

Post by bravedave »

Two days ago the A/C broke in our house. We were headed out of town for the weekend, so I didn't sweat it at the time. (sorry about the pun)
I'll get it fixed tomorrow.

Six weeks ago the A/C quit in the Jeep, but we had just got back from Fla, so I counted my blessings and drove with the windows down.

Four months ago the A/C quit on the hoopty, but that's the least of its problems.

Tonight we're back home. It's after 10 o'clock, the outside temp is 84 degrees (after a high of 96), there's not a breath of breeze and the heat index is 91.

Luckily Mrs. Bravedave bought the last fan at WalMart. We'll all camp out in the family room and share the breeze of the fan.

All I can do is keep thinking about those men and women in uniform serving in the sandbox. They gotta be hot too.

How hot are you?
(I mean looks)

:-? Sorry, Dave.

One good thing about Colorado.. it cools off in the evenings.. and very low humidity. :)

Right now it's 60 - but we did have a cool high of 73......
Last week, we were in the 90's most every day. :)

It's hot here! -- in the 90s and 100s... Here's what a friend with the National Guard in Iraq says in an email about the temps:

"It’s still hot here in the 130's. It’s not as humid here like at home. The only way I can describe it is: Imagine baking a cake or cooking a pot roast. You open the oven, and your face is too close to the oven, and the heat blasts you in the face and takes your breath. That’s what it is like when you walk out of your tent, the chow hall or the clinic. You get acclimated to the weather, then at 79-90 degrees you actually get cold. I’m for real. Thanks for all the prayers and things that you do. There is power in prayer."

Everyone please pray for Angie... she's a nurse...

Well, Dave you've met me, so you know how hot I am (or not)

I feel your pain.....I drove around and did a bunch of errands on purpose yesterday just b/c the AC in my car ROCKS. The low temp last night was what? About 85???? If you can't find any window units to tide you over, c'mon down here....after MUCH searching I found some small ones at Sears for $80....

Hang in there! :D

Yippee-Skippee!
The A/C repairman is scheduled to come here between 1 and 3 p.m.
(And the weather seems more tolerable than it was yesterday.)

By the time you're enjoying the first after-work cocktail, I should be as cool as the other side of the pillow.

Does he do work on camper AC units? Ours just up and stopped blowing cold the other day. Was wondering if there was a way to recharge them like in a car system?

Woo-hoo! The A/C is runnin' again!
Thank you, Mr. Repairman. (I just put in a call to his boss; if I'm happy, the boss should be happy.)

HIGHS - MID 90'S... actual temps... let's not talk heat index
LOWS - UPPER 70'S - LOW 80'S.... again actual

And whaddya know... the compressor in the a/c here decided to burn up this morning... lovely thing is... the warranty service people have to order the part - none in stock right now... so I FEEL YA PAIN.... I'm sitting here next to an open window with a ceiling fan going and a small fan blowing out the window to draw the heat built up in the house back outside :-?

Is it a window unit or like a thru the wall unit? Generally if it's a window unit it's not worth fixing. I think they're closed systems and can't be charged. But I'll ask him. First check the obvious though. Clean the filter, clean the outside of the unit off. Thos things can effect it. Was it icing up on the outside?

This is a roof mounted model. I have cleaned the filters, and the outside looks free of dirt and is not freezing up. I haven't taken the outside cover off yet though. It went from working great one minute to blowing nothing but warm air the next. I'll get a little better look at it this weekend, not that I really know what I'm looking for though :D
