Depending upon your definition of obscure I think his knack extends to those songs as well. That includes: Jesse Winchester, Guy Clark, John Hiatt, Willis Alan Ramsay, Will Kimbrough, Marshall Chapman, Mac, Bruce Cockburn, etc.

Hey all,
Goodman had a cool avatar that was a bit too big... does anyone have the technology or knowhow to help him reduce it? Thanks! :D

I always liked the CSN version, even before Jimmy started playing it, I had bought the "album" by CSN. I like both versions for different reasons. CSN is more subdued and Jimmys is a little more crankin. I think Jimmy brought a lot of himself to it, he did his thing...do I sound a little like Paula Abdul right now?

Just heard the 1999 Cincinnati show version, and I love Jimmy's Southern Cross. One of my favourite live songs.

I like CSN's version, but, like most people here, I think Jimmy's just has more passion to it. Great cover!

BEG....don't hate me for saying this, but that's probably my "Bathroom Break" song now....not because I don't like it, but because my boss's criteria for a live band at the restaurant is if they can play a decent cover of BEG. So I hear it more than any other song now!

I could never hate you, CP! I just think it is funny when people say they're tired of hearing it at every show...when half those shows or more are ones they listen to on RM! But everyone's entitled to like and dislike whatever they want. Southern Cross and BEG happened to be songs I liked long before Jimmy covered them...I like both versions but Jimmy's probably have more meaning to me now. :)

Took me a second to figure what I spelled funny in that post. I thought this particular version of Brown Eyed Girl was fantastic.

I like Jimmy's better than the original one by CSN... I also like Jimmy's version better than any of the other versions on iTunes...
I'm serious, go on to the iTunes music store, search for "southern cross" and listen to the samples from each version of it. There's a heavy metal version, among many others... and they are HORRIBLE!

Anywho, I can't get to radiomargaritaville.com and more from work... they've done blocked it. :( I also couldn't get to the RM on Sirius link from the M'ville website from here. I'm sad.
Margaritaville.com and BN still work though!
