Do you root , root for the home team?

Yesterday I got into a discussion with a co worker regarding who we root for. We are both from Detroit but now both live in FLA.

Now she is the type who bleeds silver and blue. So of coarse her heart will always be with the Michigan teams. I however, say I am Floridian now, FLA is my home, so I root for the FLA teams.

While I am never one to bet with my heart, I always go for my home team.

So what about you? Do you go for the teams you grew up with and around? Or do you go with the teams that play where you currently reside?

I lived in central Illinois through junior high.

I've always been a Cardinals fan in the spring and summer and a Bears fan in the fall and winter.

I'll watch the Rockies and the Broncos and enjoy, but I'm still a fan of the Cardinals and Bears.

I live in FL as well...and with College ball? My heart is still in South Carolina....(and it keeps me out of the Gator/Seminole thing! )

But with the NFL, I go with the Jaguars...had season tickets for 3 yrs..and rarely miss a game...Had to go with the hometeam on that one.....The stadium is down in Jacksonville , only about a 45 minute drive....and it's fun!

All NY all the way. Except for college, I root for my school.

Whatever your reason for originally choosing your teams (be it location or something else) you should stick with them for life. Otherwise you are just a bandwagon fan. If you'd like to follow a different team and call them your second favorite that isn't a problem, but your "favorite" teams should never change.

In the past 12-15 years there has been quite a bit of shuffling, so even if you root for your "home team", is it the Colts or Ravens, for example.

Sure makes life complicated.

I grew up in Illinois, but left in 1976. LOVED my Cubbies, and always will. But I can't 'support' them in Colorado, other than watching on TV sometimes. Enjoyed the Black Hawks and Bears, but never really 'got into' football and hockey until I moved to Colorado.

I support my home teams, (Broncos, Avalanche, Rockies, Nuggets) cause I live here, and they are a part of the community.

And they're a lot of fun to watch and go to the games. :D

So are you still with your first girl, or your "second favorite"?

Well this is a tough one for me

I was raised in Nor. Cal.

Giants, Niners!!!

Basketball??? Jazz the Pistol played for them oh those many years ago

Hockey?? Islanders!!!!!! and I have never been to NY

College?? Miami football
Basketball?? was UNLV now not so much

I did move to Idaho a few years ago we have no Pro home teams
But the Jazz are closer than ever..

I am still a 'Canes fan but I root for BSU now
in all sports..

Even if I do move to Florida I will still be true to my Pro teams
But as I did not go to college, I feel OK rooting as a Homer for them!!

Baseball: Red Sox

Hockey: Philadelphia Flyers and Phantoms

Football: The Indianapolis Colts

There was a lot of pain involved until one, actually 2, won Championships in the last year or so!
