Evidently it is this:
Scientific Name
Crinum (CRY-num)
Common Name
Crinum, Cape lily, Spider lily, Swamp lily
I have not seen many (if others) of them around though....
Must be just some strange "coinky-dinky" with the hurricanes....

It's now been upgraded to a Kat 1 hurricane...
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- Katrina became a hurricane Thursday, dumping steady rains, kicking up the surf and blowing gusty winds ashore as it crept toward an overnight landfall on Florida's densely populated southeast coast.
Katrina's maximum sustained wind speeds increased from 50 to 75 mph on Thursday, making it a weak Category 1 storm, said hurricane specialist Lixion Avila of the National Hurricane Center in Miami. Category 1 storms have top sustained winds of 74 to 95 mph, and wind damage to secured structures is usually minimal.
Wary Floridians put up shutters, stacked sandbags and stocked up on water and gasoline ahead of the slow-moving storm, whose biggest threat appeared to be torrential rain. It is expected to make landfall later Thursday or early Friday.
Katrina's path appeared centered on the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area, but forecasters warned that the storm could swing north or south
before landfall. If the forecast holds, Katrina would be the second hurricane to hit the state this year - Dennis hit the Panhandle last month - and the sixth since Aug. 13, 2004.
Katrina could drop a foot or more of rain in spots as it lumbers across the state. Battering waves and storm surge flooding of 2 to 4 feet were also likely, and isolated tornadoes were possible, forecasters said. Rain fell steadily in much of Miami-Dade and Broward counties ahead of the storm's arrival, and tropical storm force winds of about 35 mph were being felt along the coast.

watched Jim Cantore on the Weather Channel at 5a this morning. While I appreciate the impact the storm is having, I really wish his tether would snap and the wind took that witless weasel on a long, and ultimately terminal, ride.
The way he was acting, Katrina was poised to become Andrew, lulling everyone into a false sense of security because it was only a Cat 1.. Sheesh.

Last I heard Katrina had killed 4 people all from falling trees.... I have not got the latest update yet but she is expected to grow....
Don't make fun of or underestimate or second guess any hurricaine until you have seen and felt one's wrath!!!
Sort of like a VERY SEVERE thunderboomer on steroids that just does not seem to end and actually does go on for hours....also depending on where you are when the hurricane hits and passes, you have to be prepared for the wind to shift and change directions on you.
CAT I on up..... most people do not consider a CAT I to be dangerous... and stay in place, which is not neccessarily a bad thing "depending on where you are"....but they can still spawn tornadoes and high winds and heavy rain....and last for a several hours.....depending on the size of the storm and the speed it moves.
Katrina is expected to make at least a CAT II, and depending on a few things it has been mentioned may possibly go above a CAT III.....
They are all dangerous, not 100% predicable, and all can and will kill and destroy property, houses, and lives.
Over 1 Million people are without power down there right now......and they have to deal with the flooding, trees down, and probably no safe water to drink, as well...

Watch the barometric pressure!!!! The more it drops, the stronger the intensity and size of the storm. Any sudden large drop in the barometric pressure...WATCH OUT and CLEAR OUT!!!!!!!!!!
