Perhaps but sometimes I'm given the impression that he's the only one capable of answering certain questions regarding the industry and without his word it just isn't fact (which isn't the case at all). Nor does that make me the leading the authority on such subjects but I was perfectly capable (and I'm sure others are as well) of answering the above question without having to hear from Lee.

Doesn't really matter if he has "Jimmy's ear", the question could be answered without consulting Buffett. If it appeared that I "got my panties in a bunch" that was not at all the case, I'm just saying Lee isn't the be all and end all authority on these things as he's often made out to be. You don't have to be in the business to answer a lot of the questions people defer to him.

no, but i've seen cameras confiscated at a number of different venues. if you're up front and use a flash, charleston will separate you from your camera.

Same thing happened to me at Alpine. My main intent was to capture photos of my friends in the crowd. I thought it was pretty lame to take my crappy camera that wouldn't have been able to take any good photos of the stage anyway....they even took the chemical lightstick I had around my neck!

I agree with Jahfin, I respect Lee for the same reasons he mentioned, but I also have a hard time seeing why everyone seems so dependent on his knowledge. Sure, he is in the industry and brings lots of information to the table, very true. But, other people can be also, as well as those who do their homework and research on the topic their about to post on.

Please folks, just because someone has first hand experience does NOT make them the only one that knows about the topic at hand. In this case, someone could just ring up a venue or two who is going to host a Buffett concert or has in the recent past and simply ask “What is Mr. Buffett’s policy on bringing recording devices into the concert?” The receptionist will respond or put someone on the line that does, and then from there the caller could make a list, and then post here. Then they would know what their talking about, because that’s all the info needed to post here.

Lee doesn’t get “his panties in a bunch” because he knows how to debate in the right way (information is actually contained in his opposing posts), unlike others who just come into the threads to tease, harass, intimidate, “defuse” (“I like cheese” etc) or follow up with posts like “The voice of knowledge speaks”, when that person who posted that has no way of confirming if Lee was right or wrong.

When AF stated "Lee would know more about it, but would there be an issue of royalty payments for any cover songs JB played if taping was allowed?" was in response to the "argument" of why Jimmy Buffett should allow taping. And to me, it simply meant AF was throwing a guess out there as to why maybe he doesn't, but "Lee would know more about it", which is just a factual statement.

I wish I did! Sounds like I missed a good show. I was actually caught on I-95 heading back home from some down time at Hilton Head Island. Turns out a truck with a horse trailor crashed causing 95 to be closed for a rather extended period of time. That combined with construction conspired to keep me from getting home in time to tape the show. When I missed the first several songs, I just figured "bag it". I do have all the other shows from Mansfield onward....
