I am sort of enjoying the inablity of some not being able to sell their tickets...Of course I am refering to ticket brokers...They all jumped on this, and for whatever reason, some of which have already been mentioned, this is not a tough ticket. Scalpers on Ebay aren't getting anywhere near face value on bids..If you were willing to go down to Wrigley on Sun or Monday, I think you could get tickets considerably below face. And even if you don't at least you are not goinfg to be stuck near some outdoor theater. A friend called me the other day with 12 extras for Monday. It is definitely a buyers market.
Overpriced

The tickets are way overpriced, and I feel the same as already stated. I kinda like watching brokers take it in the a** again. And for the people who overbought thinking they would turn a quick buck on the fellow parrotheads.
Sure all performers have a price. But $100 plus fees to sit in the upper level to see Jimmy. Cmon, they will be giving them away next week.

overbuying wasn't an issue for me...I couldn't get anyone excited enough for Wrigley! We're aready there for about 20 games a year and after watching the Cubs play so poorly, we just have a hard time going back!

Good Luck!
Soooo... are you going to Philly on Sat. nite?

yep

I think the Cubs vs. Jimmy argument is an Apples vs. Oranges.
It's economic more than anything.
The Cubs thought they could make money on the show (they don't have to share non-baseball stadium revenue with the League); Jimmy wanted to do more than sing the National Anthem at Wrigley so he agreed; then they overpriced the tickets thinking they'd have a great payday and reap some positive press from their donations to some neighbourhood school (like Wrigleyville schools are that bad off). Scalpers and brokers jumped on it, and are now going to use their losses as an excuse for the overpriced fees they charge on other concerts.

What kind of results are people finding when they try to get rid of tickets? Face value or less ?

My bf and I ended up with 12 tickets for Monday. We're keeping 2 for ourselves and trying to sell the other 10 for face + fees. We've gotten rid of 6 and can't seem to find any interest in the other 4. I've been watching them on ebay and they aren't moving. I'm not sure what to do with these other 4. I guess try to get something for them that day. I've posted a couple of times on the ticket exchange and just a few bites but then no response.

All the regular Chicago area show-goers who I know aren't going, chalk it up to the above, and the lack of tailgating. I think a lot of pholks have grown accustomed to paying $40 for lawn seats and an awesome tailgating experience around these parts.
Yep... I'm not from Chi-town... but I'm a "regular" to the Midwest BN Group... it'll be my first miss on Buffett in Chicago in over 3 yrs...
Why?? Same as listed above... too overpriced for face, shitty seating in a stadium, holiday weekend, shows in the afternoon and no tailgating... f*** that... I love Wrigleyville's bar scene... shout out to the Irish Oak

but it's NOT tailgating... and a big reason for me going is to hang with my friends in the lot... and what we did in the lot last year at Tinley would never fly on the streets of Wrigley... If the upside down rita's dont land you in jail, then the upside down Jaegers will...
Besides, I know my way around Wrigley... and where would the fun be if me and Wade didnt get lost or drive in reverse down an interstate
Man that was A LOT of tequila that day
Ditto.
Plus, I'd rather spend 4 days at our cabin with the fam.

If you've got tickets outside the field for Monday, your definitely going to have problems selling them.
You can go to tickets.com right now and purchase 6 Field Seats together (Section N, row 21). Even the $90 seats you can get 6 together in Section 111 row 1. These are much better tickets than most people have to sell right now.
You're not going to compete with that.

Sounds like a buyers market for someone like me that doesn't have tix yet...

I'm just a few short hours from Chicago and Wrigley would be my only chacne to see a show this year, and I'm not interested in going. The seats that I could afford wouldn't be worth my money or time, no tailgating, and a 2pm show on a Monday? I think I'll pass this year.

Amen on that brother, same exact reason why this will be the fist time in many many years I will not be seeing Jimmy in the Chicago area. Spent the money I woulda spent on one show, and am getting 4 days/3 nights in Vegas instead.

If You call the tribune scalping (wrigleyfield premium seats) they will tell you that they have "a lot" for sale. $400ea!!! wtf. Most of them are on the field. Think about that, when you were in the Vir waiting room, you were already screwed. The tribune and cubs had the best seats for themselves. nice? huh. I will be selling beer there. I am a Vendor, but I will not pull for the cubs or the trib. I will be rocking and pouring the coldest beer that I can get...See ya there.

Let's pray that this little fiasco at Wrigley sends a message to Jimmy and his people. I hope Jimmy gets "playing Wrigley Field" out of his system and he returns to more conventional venues such as Alpine Valley in 2006. As poplar as Alpine has become, he needs to play two nights in the "valley". As for the scalpers, I hope they have to stand outside Wrigley and GIVE the tickets away. May all the scalpers have nightmares of JB tickets swirling through their greedy heads.

I think it's fine if Jimmy wants to do it; he's earned the right. And, if nothing else, it's giving more fans a chance to see him this year since he's only playing half as many shows in the Midwest. I'm sure this will be a one-time deal at Wrigley and he'll likely be back to Alpine and Tweeter next year (but you won't see two Buffett shows at Alpine until they allow weeknight shows.

) Yeah, Wrigley ticket prices are high, and it's looking like the scalpers are going to have a tough time with extra tickets...oh well. If I didn't have tickets for these shows, I'd look at this oversupply as a "gift"... a chance to see Jimmy at a historical venue, where he really wants to play...for what might well become a cheap price. So, if you're still in "boycott" mode over this, losing out on this chance to see Jimmy will be your own d@mn fault.

Amen, Alison.
parrothappy.
Go ahead and be negative and boycott Jimmy, and complain about Alpine. Yes, I also think that Alpine is the best, but I choose to make the best of it and be adaptable and go to Wrigley. So while the rest of us are having a great time, feel free to stay home and watch TV.
And in Pittsburgh, there was an oversupply of tickets (and we ate 4 tickets), but the stadium looked pretty full. And I had a great time.

Carmen,
Take it easy and re-read my post! I'm advocating a second Alpine show because I love the place....... Who said anything about boycotting the shows? I'm simply stating that there are better venues in the Chicago area than a baseball park. So, did you get greedy, over-purchasing tickets to make a profit or are you just a good, ol' scalper? If you are a scalper, may you choke on the tickets!

No I am not a scalper. I had people back out at the last minute. Have you been to a Jimmy concert in a baseball stadium, I have and it wasn't that bad. In fact, it was great fun. I am just tired of all the complaining about Wrigely.
