I bought CDs by Jerry Jeff Walker and Steve Goodman, among others.
I read books by Mark Twain, Hemmingway, Wouke and Tom Corcoran among others.
I ate at BO's Fishwagon and drank at Captain Tony's among others.
I went fishing and sailing and visited the Caribbean.
I didn't do these things simply because Jimmy did them, but I took his "suggestions" on fun things to do, much like I would have those of a good friend.

addition to my list:
After reading "A Pirate Looks at Fifty" I've wanted to use that book as a menu of sorts for my next adventure. Jimmy describes Costa Rica so well that he's bumped it up a few spots on my list. And I'd be lying if I said that I haven't thought about taking to the skies in a seaplane and setting down in a remote cove.

That pretty much describes what I've done as well. It's not so much "being like Jimmy" as it is hearing good stories (as from an old friend) and thinking, hmmm... that does sound like fun.
Adding to my list:
1. Made the list of "Things to do before I turn 50."
2. Went to Vegas to see Jimmy (truly can't think of any other reason I would have gotten to Vegas, but now I'm glad I went.)
3. Went to Chicago for a concert - same note as #2.
4. Restoring a convertible, and gonna build a boat.
Of course, there are some things JB does that don't interest me at all - fly fishing for one. Just not my thing...

Read "Beach Music," "Prince of Tides", and "The Great Santini" by Pat Conroy
Did more "Pirate" and "Circumnavigator" reading
Studied more celestial navigation (I did ship's navigation in the navy)

I don't think I've done anything strictly because Jimmy did it, but hanging around the PH lifestyle has encouraged me to live more in the moment, to take life a little less seriously, and to have more fun.
I do pay more attention to following my songlines.

not sure if this a fess up but since i love JB's music and think he's the greatest of all time, i will not burn any of his cd's. i always buy them even though that can get expensive. only cd that i have ever burned was his millenium concert....which was never released on cd anyways.
