Yes in my opinion... having nothing to do with geography, statistics et al.... it is a small big town. Having lived in Florida most all my life, I have known alot of folks who lived there and while spred out, the concentration of restaurants, shopping, working and night life etc is centralized. It isnt a bad thing... it was just an observation.

We do that here on this board Sam... we observe, write our thoughts and feelings and try to be kind and considerate. I would hope you remember that you cannot hear emotion, innuendo or emphesis in chat or posting... so when you make an alarming or accusing post, peoples feelings are bound to get hurt.

And I am usually pretty much the even tempered one around here.... but you did it yesterday to me and now today.... so I needed to vent.

Thank you and lets get back to being excited for Gate as he embarks on a new phase in his life! :D

I do know that you can't turn on CBS in the evenings without seeing at least a few accidents and traffic jams on their various interstates and highways..... :x

for that reason, I would choose a place very close to work (which there are)....but then my entire job would be travelling, so I'd better get use to it

I'm reaching one of those points as well where its time to pack up and move. However, I'm looking at going some where to make less money but I would be out of Atlanta. I know that to go where I want to go I'll have to give up my paycheck. One of life's little conundrums.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do!
You and me both, my friend.

Hmmmm, on the plus side...look at all the housewarming parties that might be in BN's future.

I live maybe 30 miles south of Jax and maybe 30 miles west of St. Augustine in Green Cove Springs (Lake Asbury area).
My wife works in downtown Jax in the Modis building and the drive is no problem for her. It usually takes around 40 minutes for her to get there.
There are lots of great places to live on the outskirts.
And PG, there are plenty of fellow Gator (pronounced "Giters") fans here in the Jax area although most are rednecks.

Guess what ..I have been there numerous of times...and Jax does have alot to offer anyone that wants to take the time to seek it. It is not really hard to find at all. Though sometimes the construction can drive you bonkers, but that can happen anywhere.
I base my feelings about Jax on many personal first hand experiences upon my travels there, as well as observations and input from family and friends that live there and where we visited and went out and about to.
Is something wrong with that? Is that different what you have done? I notice you did not mention personal first hand experience but perhaps that was just an oversight, so maybe

Well all things considered I have lived the majority of my life from the Fla Panhandle to Jax, to within an hour's drive or less from Jax. I have family members and friends and others that actually live there.
Jax is THE BIGGEST "small city" in the world. IT DOES have alot to offer to anyone that takes the time to actually get out and experience it... just like everywhere/ anywhere else.

Take a look at the date when I registered here....besides I had been a member before that. Thank you for your "education" on how "we" do things here. To think after all these years....Gee!

Not that you would know, but yes I am well aware of what is not available in the written language as opposed to what is available when face to face and besides I am NOT politically correct.

What did I accuse you of and how was I hurtful to you yesterday? The comment about you best look again about Jax? Perhaps you need to take your own advice about being aware what is not in this form of communication. I seriously doubt you would have had cause to be hurt or felt hurt , or that I was accusing you in a mean way, if we had been talking face to face.

I have big shoulders.. and you are not the first person I ever had vent on them, and won't be the last.

So now you vented. There, hands you a hankie and a "top shelf" margarita.... feel better now ?? 8)

You are most welcome. 8)

Okies back to the topic...

PHG,
Whatever you decide to do....your decision, as you well know...
Somethings to consider.. property taxes are lower here in Georgia.
If you decide to head up this way, give me a heads up. I will give you the .50 tour. :-) and we can go around and have some cold refreshing adult libations. We must go to Seagles and allow you to experience Cindy.
St. Marys has been called "Georgia's Key West".

If you like or love the water.... pretty much you got it all to choose from.
From offshore/nearshore/inshore fishing, sailing, waterskiing, boogieboarding, jetskis, whatever.

Let me know if you want any info on the area I have quite a few sites...

I told her....not much of a response really...just a "so I guess you made your decision". She then called me later that night completely drunk :x I just hate drunk chicks...they annoy me to no end

The job is starting to sound better though. My actual territory is from SE Ga down to Orlando and anything in between. And any area I decide to move into, basically. Get a company credit card to pay for all my travels and hotels. Sounds fun, except meeting the monthly sales goal

Are you in sales now? Mr Topless has been in sale forever.... now is the manf rep...which supports the sales people on the road but still has the pressure to make sure they sell. Its a tough road but very rewarding $$ if you have the sales persona!

I'm not in sales, nor do I have a sales background. But this isn't exactly traditional sales. The person they fired was a car salesman, but had ZERO knowledge of the civil engineering world...so he was lying to clients out of ignorance. I've been in the engineering world for 9 years. I can make the sell not because I'm going to sell s***, but because I've been down in the trenches, I do the software purchasing now, and I know what these companies need to be more efficient in their perspective discipline of engineering.

but I do have the perosnality for it

All I can say is this........

People always seem to regret the things they didn't do rather than the things they did do.

Good luck in whatever you choose! :D
