My wife and I are heading to Toronto this fall to tour the hockey hall of fame and catch a Maple Leafs game. I just wanted to know how well the taxi / public transportation system works in Toronto... will I need to rent a car for the weekend or can I get by taking taxis and the subway?
Thanks

depending on where you stay, it is pretty easy to catch a train downtown and then down for the game. Hard part is getting out to the airport. For that you will probably need a cab.

Airport is a 20-30 minute taxi from downtown. If you stay downtown, you will not need a rental car. Everything you would need is on a subway route or very close to it.
If you have an idea where you want to stay, and anything else you want to do, let me know and I can give you some tips.

Dumb and drunk as I was, you know I would do it all again.
I think that we are staying in the Marriott (downtown). We are going to the HHOF and I plan on trying to get tickets to the Leafs / Flyers game that night (I am from Philly)... How hard will it be for me to get 2 tickets to the game (and how much will it cost)?Left Field ParrotHead wrote:Airport is a 20-30 minute taxi from downtown. Do you have any other recomdations? I know that my wife will want to do some sightseeing and shoping.
Thanks.

That is the link for Leaf tickets. Very hard to come by so you may have to try the 'ticket brokers'.
HHOF is an easy walk to the Air Canada Centre. Taxis are plentiful and would only cost five to ten bucks. The HHOF is at the corner of Yonge and Front streets.
Your hotel overlooks the Eaton Centre, which is an excellent shopping spot right in downtown. And I believe it is on Bay St, which is one of the streets that borders the ACC. There is also the PATH, which is a series of underground walkways that not only have a great abundance of shopping, but you can also access many points downtown including HHOF and the ACC.

If it's nice out you could walk to the ACC from the hotel, but again, Taxi's are plentiful and you are very close to a subway stop. Should be very easy for you to get around.
Any other questions, let me know.

I see that you were in Philly for the concert... how did you like Philly and the shows?

And love the Philly crew. People were great. Cannot believe these are the same people that booed Santa Claus.
