NY too. I can but I hardly ever do, there are a lot of parking lots on LI.

It's not required in FL.......at least not where I got my drivers license.
to answer the question......No, I've tried, I just can't figure it out.

Yes, it was required to get my license!
It was also the only cone I hit during the test... but it was just a gentle tap!

It helps if you try it WITHOUT the tiki bar outfit on.
BTW, you all should try parallel parking on the wrong side of the road like I had to in Australia. Now that's fun!

Oh c'mon... a truck is even better because if its high enough you don't have to worry about busting out your own headlights.

I've parallel parked into spaces that were probably a tad too small for my Tahoe....but I don't like to do it. I'm paranoid somebody else is going to end up hitting me...or somebody else comes along and blocks me in.

I'm a pro--can parallel park with the best of 'em. When I started working on a college campus, where most of the employee spots are parallel, I was sort of forced to practice a lot.

I know
it was required on my driving test 230 years ago, but I've maybe had to do it 5 times over the years. Just outta practice is all!

I drive a new Yukon and the turning radius is great, that makes it easy. But here is a tip for those who have a hard time. When parallel parking if you are backing up and there are stores or windows to your right or left look at the reflection of your car and the car behind you to see how close you are to the car behind you. I love doing this in my Yukon and watching the look on peoples faces when it appears I'm going to back in to or over the hood of their car and I stop a few inches away

If I can't pull in, I don't park there.

I just upgraded to a 33' from the 24' we had before. Towed behind an extended cab long bed truck, it becomes quite a rig. The longer one is actually easier to back up, though. The hardest one I've ever had to PP was a jet ski trailer - can't see it, and all they want to do is jacknife at the slightest turn of the wheel.

I can. My wife can't.
My dad can. My mom can't.
My best friend can. His wife can't.
And so on....
I believe that there is a testosterone/parallel parking connection.
My hubby could parallel park a freight train......I cannot parallel park a bicycle. He laughs his a$$ off every time I try.
For the record, I cannot back the boat down the ramp either......
I think you and I are married to the same person. I think he has me try parallel parking JUST so he can laugh.

Hell, I don't even remember what it's like NOT to parallel park all the time. I get agitated in parking lots anymore because I don't like how close the other cars get to mine.

Parallel parking is just a way of life where I live... and yes, I'm brilliant at it!

Some skills are NOT gender-specific. Actually, I believe MOST or NO skills are gender-specific.
My dad taught me and I paid attention.
I can parallel park in three moves: Pull up alongside the car in front, as close as you can get. Back up and turn as soon as you reach a certain point (can't say where, I just know instinctively). Move as close to the car behind as you can, then pull forward. You're there.
P.S. The secret is starting all the way next to the car in front. You naturally want to start farther back, and you'll never make it.
