How about performing at the benefit show tonight? How about joining other celebrities like Harry Connick, Jay-Z, that have donated millions? How about writing a check? God knows I've spent thousands over the years on concert tickets, and Buffett-related crap at Margaritaville stores.

Why couldn't he have announced at the Indy show that all proceeds from the concert would go toward relief?

Parrotheads around the country are already mobilizing to help. It would be nice if our "leader" would be out front in this effort.

Not to be dramatic, but if I don't hear something soon out of Buffett, this whole parrothead thing is over for me. Show some integrity, Jimmy.
ummmm... can I have your CD?
Come on, spread the wealth...you have enough copies of "The Yellow Album" :pirate:

This is the first time in our history that a city has to be evacuated. I am sure our National, State and local governments will be there plus private
individuals ( including JB ) and corporations will be there. Instead of complaining support your local charity or the Red Cross.

We have a great country !

MY Answers ........................

Why couldn"t he have announced at the Indy show that all proceeds from the concert would go toward relief?
Maybe because the proceeds had already been spoken for

Parrotheads around the country are already mobilizing to help. It would be nice if our "leader" would be out front in this effort.
Our "leader" is probably reeling from his own emotional losses, he has a lot of personal ties and responsibilities in that area of the country and he needs to attend to those first. He is also fulfilling the obligations he has to us by performing the concerts that he has already contracted for, and we have made long standing & often expensive arrangements to attend. Think of the additional losses to us if he did not perform and just rushed home to help. After they are over he has plenty of time to do the PUBLIC stuff, Most of the time the stuff JB does is usually done quietly and withourt fanfare.

Not to be dramatic, but if I don't hear something soon out of Buffett, this whole parrothead thing is over for me.
Kool, more seats for us!!!

Show some integrity, Jimmy.[/quote] Please, just put your attitude away, this is not the place for it.

Yes he did, Mo...and he mentioned a concert in the works...and M'ville is dry and hasn't been looted so they are going to open up to get food and drinks to the relief workers.

Plus they still haven't accounted for all the M'ville employees...and that is one of his priorities...getting the M'ville family accounted for and back on their feet.

Lots of people jump in from the get go to say they are doing their part. Who will be there to provide continuing support, be it financial, emotional whatever...that remains to be seen, but I'd say it's a safe bet that Jimmy is looking to fill the holes left by other organizations.

This is over in the News area..

"We're lucky," Buffett reported. "All of my immediate family is fine. Our concerns are with the people who work for us in New Orleans, and we have most of them located to other places. Internally we're better off than everybody you see on TV. We didn't get any water at [Margaritaville], but we got looted. We're waiting to get back in there and help on other things."

Buffett will pay tribute to New Orleans during his sold-out Wrigley Field concerts today and Monday.

I'm sure JB has something lined up to help the people down in New Orleans and the other cities that were devastated from Katrina.

We don't know half of what the STARS do for charity. They don't advertise as I'm sure they are already hounded from charities already.
We give to charities ans a lot of you do, and you know how many more come out of the woodwork.

Give Jimmy a break ~~~give him a moment to breathe, he'll do what's right for him! He didn't stay this popular because he was a jerk ~~ he loves his people!

(true story: I lost my copy of the Yellow Album, but not the case. Let's just say that the CD that is in the case is a lot better version of "songs you know by heart" thanks to the Boxed Set and the like...)

JB is the ParrotHead Leader....so what did you expect MGRTAVL?

NOT that he had to tell us WHAT if anything he was doing....but yeah, Jimmy said he was going down to the Gulf with M.E.M.A. to feed some relief workers and see what he could do.

I'm very proud to say that I'm a ParrotHead!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think of the look of surprise and happiness on someone's face when they get more than they expected inside. :)

For the people who ripped JB for not doing anything a day or 2 after the hurricane blew through - there's a firehouse across the street from Wrigley Field, I think it's on Waveland Ave. There were fire fighters out on the streets around Wrigley the days of both shows carrying boots and collecting money for hurrican relief. When I dropped my contribution in the boot, the fire fighter holding it told me Jimmy would be matching anything they collected. Think about it, 2 shows, probably a total of close to 80,000 people. If everyone just dropped the cost of 1 margarita ($6) or one overpriced beer ($5.50) in the boot, that's over $400,000, to be matched by JB. That's where he is.

So where is Jimmy now??

Doing what he usually does.....he's leading by example.

Firehouse collections and matching $s at Wrigley
Cubs jersey auction
Sept 20th benefit show
Taking care of his M'ville NO people
.
.
.
and I'm sure this list will grow as time goes on, and we will probably never know everything he will have done in the wake of Katrina. Good work Jimmy!
