For years we as a country have welcomed the unfortunate yet when a disaster happens to unfortunate US citizens people say Oh well - they should have got out. How do you get out with no money, no way?
And once again, that's where the Local Officials dropped the ball. They know their demographics and did nothing but send them to a shelter, that had never been tested, without food and water.
I have never said local officials should not be held accountable and this is just one of the many things they need to account for. IMHO there should eventually be an investigation of all aspects of all agencies and government officials from the bottom up. People should be held accountable and we must learn from our mistakes so that in the future, God forbid we are ever faced with another tragedy of this magnitude, maybe we can do better.

Someone PLEASE explain it to Connie. She seems to think or consider me to be attacking her...YET AGAIN.
This is the second time she has stepped into and blamed me.

Connie is the one telling me I need help? At least I am know where to appropriately place the blame...and can call the dawg by it's name....

Connie if your going to come into this then PLEASE REALIZE the facts and know the truth of what WE are talking about when you lay blame....you keep blaming the President....so by all means PLEASE tell us short of breaking/violating the CONSTITUTION and violating the LAW what you would have him do.

You may hate or detest or feel however about President Bush all you like!
It is still a free country...and please no more of your insults about southern gentlemen... I have a cold beer or two drink and enjoy watching the river go by and watch for gators, dolphins, or snakes, or turtles.

Perhaps you should try that counseling again, if you have not tried it before, or seek the help that you so highly recommend for everyone else.

Besides if I wanted a fight with you... you would know it, in no uncertain terms.
Roll with the punches, play all of your hunches...come what may...

Actually, I agree with that and a post-mortem is normally done after every such event. In addition I think every State should take a look at how Jeb Bush runs a disaster as the disaster response in Florida is truly amazing.

Oh, and you two need to both calm down!

No I would not say that anyone deserved such devastation and loss and suffering!!!!
I don't know Sam,
It sure sounds to me like you feel these people had it coming by failing to heed warnings

Then, I guess I deserve whatever happens, whenever it happens, y'know,
since I've chosen to remain living here, right?
Sam wrote:Care to say the same thing about these people, the Mayors, and the Governor??? AT LEAST THREE DAYS OR MORE went before Katrina hit.... Care to argue with that?
Do you and or anyone else that goes through an earthquake deserve it?

Care to deny if the people had followed the guidelines they would NOT have been thirsty or hungry for so many days?
Again with the blaming of the people. Have you ever been to a city?
Sam wrote:THE POINT I AM MAKING ONCE AGAIN.....is people need to be more self reliant and self sustaining!!!
The point I am making again, is yours is an ideal, but unrealistic one.
You just can't hold hold a society to YOUR ideal of what YOU THINK it should be.
This is PRECISELY the kind of situation, similar to 9/11, that demanded immediate Federal aid. That is all I am saying. No racist angles or anything else.

Getting blowjobs was SO much more wrong than
an unnecessary foreign invasion, record budget deficits, record fuel prices, and mismanaged disaster relief.

If you're being sarcastic, blowjobs are never bad

If you're being serious, I'm not going to get involved in this argument. I just find it sad that in such a time of Americans depending on each other, so many of us (myself included) can spend our time arguing over who's to blame and bitching about gas prices.

The President was in my town sleeping at the comfy Hotel del Coronado that night.

Sam, what you are saying, in essence, is that these citizens who stayed behind , despite mandatory calls for evacuation,
DESERVED their fate, regardless if they survived the event, and should not expect Uncle Sam to bail them out.

Would you agree with this?

kinda sounds like that now that he knows his friends are safe :-?
Leave my friends out of this UNLESS YOU REALLY WANT A FIGHT.......They are not the issue, they are not here, and they are not involved.

Besides, at least my friends were intelligent and smart enough to be prepared for a hurricane and are not blaming the President or the federal goverment for the problems and losses they are personally facing.

What problems from Katrina are you having to personally face that makes you blame the POTUS? Did you lose a house??? A roof??? All of your possesions???

Leave my friends out of this and back off of them.

LOL.. well each president had their faults. Some married lesbians and screwed interns and wasted a good cigar, some started an unnecessary war, blamed the TURRISTS for MERICA and it was really to pad his own oil wallet, others only really knew how to grow peanuts, some screwed movie stars or their wives did, some kept campaign promises but got caught spying on the other party and had to quit.. so let's see.. that pretty much sums up the presidents in my lifetime.. well except Gerald Ford who holds the distinguished record of being the only UNELECTED president ever in the US. :D oh and LB who ? wasn't he the one that covered up the assasination of the guy whose office he stole? hmm...

Sam you may be southern but you are a far cry from a gentleman
Well perhaps you should put on your glasses or contacts and REREAD my post and some of the others.
You keep specifically naming President Bush and ignoring the Governor and the Mayor. You keep slamming President Bush and FEMA.
You constantly overlook the peoples own responsibilties that KNEW!
Seemingly you do try to lay "some" blame elsewhere...but you ignore the main people it ultimately falls on...the people not having a hurricane kit, the Governor, and the mayor.... You have yet to prove that President Bush did anything wrong, caused the incident, broke any laws, violated the Constitution or has any fault with the situation.

You want culpability and blame? Then place it proberly. That is the whole point of what I was telling you to start off with.

I never said I was gentleman did I ??? Besides since you have never actually met me...and we have have only spoken on the phone and elsewhere...You don't really know me.

I have not attacked you no matter what you claim. If I were to attack you...which as of yet you have not given me any cause to even contemplate such a move, you would immediately know it and would not have to think about it or do your rope-a-dope Ford truck humping dance.

Besides...you might be a Texan, but you damn sure aren't a Southern Belle!!!
But what does that have to do with anything???
Roll with the punches, play all of your hunches...come what may...
