Unfortunatley, Labor Day at Great Woods is just a memory.

I spoke to the GM at Great Woods this year. As long as the Golf Tournamwent is still around, Jimmy Labor day weekend show will be no more. The Tweeter Center makes $10 a day per car for the 6 day event Much more than what the 2 Day Buffett show would pay.

If Labor Day is out, I woud take the weekend before, btut please no more Mon and Wed PLEASE>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I do believe this is the last year the golf tournament is there on labor day weekend. But, with the success of stadium shows the last 2 years. I think it will be at a different stadium in a different city.

I don't think it it is a complaint as much as stating how some people are feeling. For years here in Great Woods country we were spoiled by having Jimmy play Labor Day weekend. It became a great way to celebrate the end of summer. Now last year Jimmy played Fenway the weekend after Labor Day. So we here in the area still had the show to look forward too and get ready for. So this year with Jimmy playing earlier in the year this is the first Labor Day in a long time we are without a show. The end of summer does feel quite different with out the shows, Labor Day weekend has become a very quiet affair for most.

I know for me I was driving around this weekend and started wondering what I would be up to if I was at Great Woods for the show. When you are used to having somthing happen at a certain time and it ends it can take some getting used to. For me it is bittersweet, I loved having it Labor Day weekend, and I do miss it, but I also like having the weekend free. For me, not having it this weekend has opening up an opportunity for me to attend the NHRA drag racing national event in Indy, unfortunatly I wasn't able to attend this year, maybe next year.

Well put that was the exact sentiment I was looking to get across. Buffett in June was nice, but I got spoiled ending summer at Great Woods.

Yep, it was an empty Labor Day weekend away from Great Woods, I just drove around in my rag-top listening J.B.... Beware though, mentioning the lack of a Labor Day Great Woods show after having the concerts in June (sure I went to both) really, really riles up some of the less fortunate here who never get to see him. I know, I posted a topic similar to this a while ago and was accused of whining, etc.!
Now I look forward to the "Whatever Day when ever it is during the week Greatwoods show" next year!

Um, while I understand having a hard time adjusting to the new realities of life, I think this probably isn't the place to comment on it, since MOST of the folks here have never seen a JB Labor Day Weekend Show, and many haven't had a show in their corner of the country at all....

Just think how much it would p*ss all of us off if, for instance, Paris Hilton popped in to complain that on her latest trip to Hawaii, she had to fly ECONOMY class.... :o Horrors.... :o

I miss Labor Day at GW, too, but it's time to move on, and I just think in consideration of our fellow PHs, it's kinda bad form to bemoan our 'bad luck,' that we get shows in June instead of on Labor Day.

Just my 2 cents. :P

It was a complaint of sorts. Just like I have about Atlanta. Atlanta used to get two shows. Thurs/Sat... usually early summer. Then one year it changed, we got ONE show, then the next year he came in Feb, April, Nov, then the next year only April and that was 2004 and he hasn't shown up since then at all! So, yep. Whether venue change or no show, it's a complaint.

Not to mention how incredibly drunk the grill was on Sunday. It kept falling over. :o
