Moonie wrote:wow! you prefer it...I didn't know that.. generally you can get closer to the cars and the drivers, when you get a pit pass or you used to be able to. We had a really nice track about 45 miles from where I grew up and I knew a lot of the drivers and the guys that wrenched on them.

Wait'll you get hooked on drag boats.....
I prefer NHRA because every ticket IS a pitpass. We were in Atlanta last May and while walking in the pits I look over and next to us is Tony Schumacher. It's awesome to stand just feet away from the crews while they work. In NASCAR? Forget it, you better have a great set of binoculars.

One must as WHY do you HATE him? Because he is good? Because he drives a chevy?

Don't say because he whines, because EVERY driver out there does.
Don't say because he's gay, because that has never ben proven.

I'm not a fan of 24, but I don't HATE him.

they do make themselves accessable and you can stand within feet of them changing an engine, and the fuel dragsters and crew are the same way, as well as the funny cars.

Pit passes used to cost an additional $5.00 over admission.

The races at night were exciting, too. It was cooler and the cars seemed to run faster...

the Sep 5th issue of Fortune magazine has a fascinating article on the business side on NASCAR. can't miss the issue, Richard Petty Inc. painted up one of their cars as the "Fortune" car for the cover photo....
