If nothing else, at least maybe we can argue about something other than the hurricane.
IMO he was one of the best players ever.
Period.

It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

I agree with your last statement CF. I also respected him.Capt.Flock wrote:I would have to agree that he was a great player but still never liked him( cowboy fan ) but respected .
He should have retired a couple of years ago before he went down hill but that is just my opinion
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Redskin fan who also respected what he did. Maybe he can petition for Art Monk to finally get into the Hall Of Fame, Rice did break Monk's all time reception record.
The only problem I had with Rice is he should have retired a couple years ago and with the 49ers, like Emmitt did with Dallas sign a 1 day contract with them and retire.

He's good, but old. I think Shanahan did the right thing and let him go, but used him to help build the morale of the young receivers here in Denver.SMLCHNG wrote:Bummer... was good to see him in a Bronco uniform.. even if was for just pre-season.
He's one damn good player.
I'm glad he decided to retire then live-out the rest of his days with a team he didn't have synergy with.

But even then I still didn't like it. For 2 seasons I couldn't wear my Emmitt jersey cuz he played for Arizona, when we all know he should have retired at the top of career with Dallas. Those 2 years in AZ mean nothing to his career.Alan11 wrote:Redskin fan who also respected what he did. And Jerry, I wish I didn't know you were the #4 receiver in Denver and given the option to retire. Your legacy deserved better than that...
Dumb and drunk as I was, you know I would do it all again.

Jerry Rice is my all time football player from the state of Mississippi. I was a huge fan of his no matter what he did. He was the hardest working and best conditioned player on the field year after year. It would have been nice to see him succede in Denver, bit I wish him the absolute best in the rest of his endevors!
We'll miss seeing you out there Jerry!!!!
#80 will always have a special place in my book!!!!

...at the time I was an Ole Miss fan, and to this day I still can't figure out why I didn't enroll at the University of Mississippi - JB (A Pirate Looks at Fifty)
