Our FIRST Jimmy concert

Tonight, September 5th, we experienced our FIRST Jimmy Buffett concert and I can say we are officially PARROT HEADS!!! I bought tickets through Great Tickets on Friday before the concert, $2040.00 for 4 tickets, for the four of us, section D, row 5. The concert was worth every penny. The weather was absolutely wonderful, sun shining and a great crowd! I heard the crowd was a bit wilder on Saturday, the clothes or showing of no clothes.
I need double knee surgery and I'm holding off till I'm through with my concert going this fall, (Paul McCarthney). So I had to do the wheelchair/crutch route. I was stressed out the night before because this is the first concert I needed the wheelchair. Everyone was more than accomadating, making me feel better. I also brought my Alan Jackson life size poster board to the concert, against my husbands better wishes. Alan got his 27 seconds of fame on the BIG screen.
Overall I loved the concert. Fans are great, we even had a family that flew in from Spain in front of us. He was enjoying the crowd as much as the concert. he would spread his arms out and just smile and say this is great, looking at all the people. Jimmy looked wonderful and relaxed and his voice sounded great!
So we now happily Parrot Heads. Can't wait for the next concert. Would love to go to MGM/Vegas but my daughter is expecting their 1st baby then.
JIMMY BUFFET MELLOW MAN that can Rock!!

Congratulations and welcome to the club. I was a few rows in front of you and I could tell Jimmy got a big kick out of your cardboard cutout. I am glad you had a great time, there is nothing ike a Jimmy show and being a part of it like you where with the cutout makes it even better. Thanks for adding to the show.

Queenie, just remember age is just a state of mind and it appears that you have like the man said A Schoolgirl's Heart.

You have a great attitude Queenie, I hope your surgeries come out fine and when Jimmy comes back next year whether it be Alpine or Tinley (that's assuming you are a Chicagoland resident) or wherever you get to see him, you will be able to rock even more.

Queenie-we saw the poster too-kudos to you! And welcome to BN-it is a great group here and it helps a lot during the down time when concerts are not going on.
You will also have a great time at McCartney!
Meanwhile, when Jimmy is touring again, listen in on RM and come chat with us on the Set List thread!

Thank you ((erj))! You all seem very nice here. Like I said, we had a wonderful time. I hope Jimmy wasn't wondering , what's that chick sitting in her seat, not standing and dancing away??? (I was in my seat though)
And I have to thank my great husband who I surprised the tickets with. I made a CD with his songs on and wrote on it, "we have 4 tickets to Jimmy Buffett's concert on Monday, Sept. 5th." He was, where going? and I said yup and he's like Cooool!!! Then he phoned our friend who has been a Buffett fan over 20 years
Glad I joined the group

Thank you ((((Spikeit))), We had so much fun at the concert. we always do tailgating at the Bears games but there are so many bars around Wrigley to go to. It must be different but still a lot of fun going to the Bars

What does one do to distinguish you from the board members and the other fans when you go to concerts? So you know who is whom?

A lot of us have "BuffettNews" lanyards and nametags.
We also exchange cellphone numbers and meet up beforehand.
(Or luck, like when I met my first BN friends, LadyParrotHead, CaptCougie, and Big Hat Carmen!)

Sunday was my 1st show and Monday was my 2nd. The Alan Jackson cutout was awesome! We got to see it all the way up in 528! It's cool to meet other new parrotheads! Welcome to club! Phins up!

Way to go Queenie, and welcome!
The AJ cutout was a great idea and I'm glad you enjoyed the show. Good luck with the knee surgery...then when you're back and ready to rock, we'll see you at another Buffett show.
And, a lanyard is a fabric nametag holder you put around your neck...with the BN tags, it's easier to spot us. That's how I caught up with CaptainP and ejr this weekend.

We're all very distinguished individuals (at least I am

) so it's easy.

The lanyard is like a thick shoestring thingie that has a clip at the end from which to hang (in our case) nametags. The necklace thing a person might keep their work ID on.
I too saw your cut out! And I just had surgery (4 wks ago) and had to "sit" part of the concert (boy was that hard!). Take care of yourself and welcome to BN!

Queenie! Welcome to the clan!!!!

I'm so glad you had a great time! Sorry to hear you won't make the MGM.....It is an Experience not to be missed!!!! Perhaps next year after you're on your feet!
In the mean time enjoy Sir Paul.....Perhaps you should wear a grass skirt to his concert...???
