I did this the first time this spring.. only I had a patrol toboggan behind me!! 
those things dont float as well as you would think...
and holy sweet god was the water cold... took a week for my boots to dry out!! ( I didn't have time to go change into rentals)
loved the two people who made it all the way across in the video.

that video reminds me of the "surfers" I see at the beach who go through all the trouble for just a five foot ride. Of course my big a$$ would not last one foot
