I'm running Hartford on October 8, this will be #15, I did 18 miles last weekend, I need to find time to do one more long run, but this weekend isn't going to work. I did one a marathon in May, so I guess I will be ok.

I usually finish somewhere in between 4:00 and 4:10, right in the middle of the pack.............

I've never been one to run with any headsets or anything, I worry about not being able to hear cars or to get wrapped up with inattention blindness, similar to driving and talking on a cell phone.

Feel free to ask if I can offer you anything.

Marathons are fun. The physical training is the worst part. Once you're there and running it, it's all psychological and I think easier. There's tons of people there cheering you on, so that's your motivation to keep going. I used to run full marathons, but with law school, my training schedule is not what I wish it could be so I'm only running halfs, until I have time to train again. But kudos to you! It's addicting! Especially collecting all those different medals. My favorite one are my mouse ear medals from running the Disney Marathon. This year I'll only be getting a Donald Duck medal because I'm only running the half. But it's fun! enjoy!!!

What do you usually eat?? I did a 21 miler and had 3 Espresso Gu's. It was fine, but I was a bit light headed at mile 20. I don't think I want bars, etc.

Also, should I do Gu with the "sports drink mix" or just water? On our training runs, I usually have a fuel belt with half gatorade, half water. And I Gu every hour or so... I just want to make sure I'm not over loading or under loading for the run.

I'm excited, mostly to have it be over so I can run when I want, and not so much on a schedule!!
I wanna go back to the Island...

See you in Boston, September 2nd!

I tend to stick with just water during the race, but that's just me, I tried Gatorade once and it didn't agree with me during the run.

You may not need to wear the fuel belt during the marathon, there should be water stops every mile, I tend to think the less cumbersome, the better. Check the race website, they probably give out gels on the course, you might want to make sure they are giving out the same gels you are training with. As the experts will tell you, never try anything new on race day.

Which marathon are you doing? Something local?
I am no longer fighting my inner demons. We are on the same side now.
