Where to stay in Portland?

Post by VancouverIslander »

Hi all...........been reading the board for about a year now and have taken the plunge. Long time JB fan......1st saw him back in 81-82 in Seattle (sure miss those small venues). Also had 2nd row at his concert at The Gorge back in 92? Doubt I'll ever get that close up again.

I was wondering where a good place to stay near The Rose Garden? Went to the last concert he did there and had a few Coronas in a hotel close by.....but for the life of me cant remember what the name of it was...but there was a Parrothead Club meeting out in a patio area.

Anyone help a fellow Parrothead out?

From what I understand the PHC up there had a gathering in the Double Tree near the RG. I did a search on www.Hotels.com and was able to find a place based on the distance to the RG. Stumbling distance is a must for me.....and there were quite a few that fit that category....but hurry! They'll go fast! :D

Hi fellow Vancouver Island parrothead, congratulations on taking the plunge and welcome to the board! If you're not looking for deluxe accomodations I recommend the Econo Lodge Convention Center
at 305 N. Broadway -

http://www.byrate.com/property_info/qw5 ... on_Center/

I stayed there for the concert three years ago, and location-wise it is hard to beat - straight across the street from the arena. It's a pretty basic older motel, but the rooms are clean, the people working at the desk friendly, and the price right at less than US$60 on weeknights. Everyone staying there at the time was there for the concert, and an impromptu tailgate party got going in the motel parking lot at about three in the afternoon.

I wish I was making the road trip down to Portland this time, but San Jose last April and Toronto in June pretty well tapped out my Buffett budget for this tour  . Oh, well, I'll be there in spirit and listening on RM.

Have a great time!

Welcome!

There is also a Red Lion, right at the convention center that is walking distance. The Double Tree will be the most fun, and you can take the "Max" our light rail, for free there. But Red Lion is close too...

We are going to have fun. And for the first time in many, many years... I am going to get to see Buffett and sleep in my own bed!!!
I wanna go back to the Island...

See you in Boston, September 2nd!
