Course, I went ahead and bought 15 of these from the Key West store, which will probably have to close down cause of Hurricane Rita. Great timing. Hope my order doesn't get lost.
I agree with you if I knew that the shipping cost was going to the Red Cross. Not to start a debate. I'm just not in a position to be able to afford that much shipping. Again, I think it's great and I'll probably end up with one somehow anyway <wink wink badhabitsacctnt>! :)

Not to fuel a debate but these are realistic rates considering that if you paid for the gas to get to your nearest M-ville store...... bet it would be more. Shoot I am 40 miles from M-ville and it would cost ME $6 to drive one way!

The bracelets are cool, but I'd rather just donate straight to the Red Cross. The shipping is excessive for such a small and light object, but I understand that it's probably from some pre-set standard rate form and not variable.

:D :D I just bought two. One for Jamie (A1A Bound) and one for me. I really like the bracelets and I think the money is going for a good cause. It couldn't get any better! :D :D Thanks for posting.

Yeah, pre-set rates set by the mailing/shipping companies.

I figure I spend way more than the cost of shipping for my after-work drinkies.....

Yeah - I'd just rather give $7 to the Red Cross, than $2 to the Red Cross and $5 to USPS, or whoever delivers it to me.

Know what I mean.

 me too! Let's just hope this "Rita" is served with salt and some lime.... :D

I guess I looked at it kinda selfishly---money is going to Red Cross; not all Parrotheads will get them; they will become an after thought trend/want; will be able to make up cost of shipping on one Ebay sale about six months down the road--can donate more to Red Cross from profit off Ebay.... :D

Sorry, but I thought of my close Parrothead friends who would love to get one in their stockings, then added a few more to stay in the same postage bracket figuring that they would be useful down the road.
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......

I don't have any idea which Margaritaville is closest to me....Key West maybe? I am in Indiana so you're right, the shipping compared to my gas to drive there to get them is definitely no contest. I know there has to be money paid for shipping but maybe donate the handling fee to the red cross? Every little bit helps...

The closest one is probably in Charleston or Myrtle Beach.

I just ordered ours from the Myrtle Beach Margaritaville store. They are selling them in packs of 5 for $10 and the shipping seems to be a bit better. For 20 bracelets, shipping was about $6.25. And they don't have that b*#&$ Rita headed their way either. The gal I spoke with said they just put them on their website this morning and already 14 orders had come in. I'm glad I got our order in!

What really stinks is most of that shipping charge is straight profit. I work for a company that makes over $120,000,000 pure profit on shipping. That stinks I think!

I don't get that argument...
Where do you come up with "pure profit"?

Shipping requires "hands-on" labor by a number of individuals, agencies
who have to feed their families too. Fuel is required to power vehicles to get this item in your hands... you know that cost has gone up 50% just in this year.

If you're SO tweaked by this profit-taking, are you gonna quit your job out of protest?

I just think we're splitting hairs here.... :-?

Write to ups to tell them to donate all shipping on katrina related items.

Just bought mine. I think it's cool.
