"Our worst fear is not that we are inadequate, Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?" Actually, Who are you not to be? You are a child of God; your playing small doesn't serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us. It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone, and as we let our own light shine, we inconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Marianne Williamson

Romans 8:37-39

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Aye, fight and you may die, run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!

-- William Wallace, Braveheart

Character is made by what you stand for; reputation by what you fall for.
Robert Quillen

"Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment."

Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others.
Sir Winston Churchill

Integrity is not a conditional word. It doesn't blow in the wind or change with the weather. It is your inner image of yourself, and if you look in there and see a man who won't cheat, then you know he never will. Integrity is not a search for the rewards of integrity. Maybe all you can ever get for it is the largest kick in the ass the world can provide. It is not supposed to be a productive asset.
John D. MacDonald, spoken by the character Travis McGee

[T]here is no more dangerous experiment than that of undertaking to be one thing before a man's face and another behind his back.
General Robert E. Lee

It is easy to be tolerant of the principles of other people if you have none of your own.
Herbert Samuel

Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.
Albert Einstein

" Pacifism is objectively pro-fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side, you automatically help out that of the other. Nor is there any real way of remaining outside such a war as the present one. In practice, 'he that is not with me is against me. "
George Orwell

Let every man honor and love the land of his birth and the race from which it springs and keep their memory green. It is a pious and honorable duty. But let us have done with British-Americans and Irish-Americans and German-Americans, and so on, and all be Americans.
Henry Cabot Lodge ( 1850-1924)

When God made the oyster, he guaranteed his absolute economic and social security. He built the oyster a house, his shell, to shelter and protect him from his enemies.... But when God made the Eagle, He declared, "The blue sky is the limit---build your own house!" ... The Eagle, not the oyster, is the emblem of America.

For those to whom much is given, much is required. And when at some future date the high court of history sits in judgment on each of us, recording whether in our brief span of service we fulfilled our responsibilities to the state, our success or failure, in whatever office we hold, will be measured by the answers to four questions: First, were we truly men of courage...Second, were we truly men of judgement...Third, were we truly men of integrity...Finally, were we truly men of dedication?

Nope, they're right, Sam. :) Les Nessman broadcast it, but it was Mr. Carlson that set up the stunt. :)

The above quote is from the famous “WKRP in Cincinnati” episode where Station Manager, Arthur Carlson (played by Gordon Jump), arranged to have live turkeys dropped from a helicopter as an advertising stunt.

The "Turkeys Away" episode was and remains one of my favorites. And the quote is perversely inspirational in that it reminds me just how clueless management types can be sometimes. So when they come up with another bonehead idea I just smile and think to myself "yep, and I bet they think turkeys can fly".
