One might as well drink water !

Budweiser is making alot of headway into the market in Ireland for some reason...,anyone that likes beer goto www.realbeer.com ...you can find out about alot of microwbrews and many others.... Very informative and worthy news site for beer drinkers.....They have archived more about beer than probably, any single other source I have seen.
There are three reasons Bud has made headway in Ireland. First, they've spent a ton of money on marketing their beer. Second, given the lower a/c of Bud vs. Guiness, Harp, etc. it is less fatten and therefore more appealing to women and to those who are more worried about appearance then taste. The third is the appeal of drinking something foreign.
Oh yeah definitely the marketing!!!! Just what possessed A-B to market Bud in Ireland is what I was wondering about....That seems sort of redundant to me...like selling water to Eskimoes.... it just seems strange.

I can understand the import thing and I have talked with and met various people all over the world and they would be willing to trade one or more of their local or national brands for a "REAL" American Bud.

I am not too sure about Guinness that is brewed in country, and I have had both, but Budweiser has a higher alcohol content than the imported Guinness...
Guinness runs around 4.5% and Bud a little higher ( unless you get stuck with 3.2%) at around 5%

Guinness brewed in Dublin runs much higher then Guinness in Canada and the USA, it's closer to 8.5%. Most Bud sold worldwide is less then 3.2% according to AB's owner brewmaster. Sure the package may save that the ac is "not less then X%" but that doesn't mean that it is X%.

I had also heard that in this country, Guinness for sale above 3.5% abv was unheard of

This is from the REAL BEER page:
Guinness Drought is what we get in the cans and bottles....
It has less calories and albeit not much, less carbs than Bud

*************************************************************
For purposes of consistency, calories and carbs are based on 12-ounce servings. Alcohol content is listed by volume (a beer that is 4.0% by volume is about 3.2% by weight).

http://www.realbeer.com/edu/health/calories.php

Budweiser (U.S) Budweiser 5.0 143 10.6

Guinness Guinness Draught 4.0 125 10
Guinness Foreign Extra Stout 7.5 176 14

You actually like the Cherry Wheat? I think it is one of the worst Sam Adams beers I have ever tasted. Buzzards Bay? Never heard of it. How long has it been around? I never saw it when I lived in Massachusetts.

The worst thing I saw was a Guinness served in a plastic cup. When I saw the games last weekend at Camden Yards, the bar within the stadium enterance served it in plastic cups.

The Guinness you get in the States is not the same as the Guinness brewed in Dublin. It is brewed for the "American" market which means it will be watered down so it has fewer calories and carbs then the beer brewed in Dublin. It is also formulated to be served colder then Guinness in Dublin, again, because of the American market.

Having worked with AB both as a distributor for them and as a consultant I will stand by what they told me and what I've seen.

Is no prob and I believe you. I know beer and other items made for export are not the same as those "brewed and kept in country of origin"
so to speak.....

I was only going by what I knew and had seen in available data... as I said I have had both "REAL not for export Guinness and the import we get here....
