For Colorado BNrs...tonight on Fox31 news...
Today Victoria and I walked in the Saints Peter and Paul 5k/1k Fun Run, which is also held every year in the memory of Heather DeWild. Some of you might remember hearing of Heather's disappearance in the news in 2003, and the recovery of her body on highway 6 several months later.
Heather was the mother of 2 kids that Victoria goes to school with. Her estranged ex-husband and ex-father-in-law were strong suspects in the case, but no arrests have ever been made.
Fox31 covered the event, so you might catch a glimpse of us on the news tonight at 9. The event not only raises money for Victoria's school, but a portion of the proceeds are also donated to Crime Stoppers.
Just thought I'd pass this on.

Haha. Definitely not the first time. My wedding was on the news too.captainjoe wrote:Is this the first time you've been recorded on camera?
By the way, that is cool! How far in feet is 5k?
I have no idea how far in feet it was. There's two parts of the race though... the 5k is the run and the 1k was the walk (which is what I did with Victoria). It was 1.2 miles.

You need to check your conversions..... ( Well, we do know that women can't judge distances.....and why.... 6 inches is how big??? LOL
A meter is a little over 3 inches longer than a yard....
A Kilometer is 1,000 meters and is less than a mile..... 1 Km = about 0.62 of a mile....
1 mile roughly = 1.6 Kilometers
Something I would suggest for most everyone, is to go buy a pedometer... they vary in price and most are quite inexpensive....say a good one might be around $8.00-$12.00.
Just calibrate it and then clip it onto a belt loop or something and walk....
The pedometers can tell you how far you walk or run depending on the model you get... I think there are some that do both..... but probably cost more.
Generally I think they can be set for meters/yards/ or kilometers/miles.
People will tend to be surprised at the end of a work day how much they have covered....
Roll with the punches, play all of your hunches...come what may...

I think since it was a school fundraiser, the 1k was a very loose interpretation. We were clocked at 1.2 miles...so my conversions were wrong, but that's what we actually walked.Sam wrote:buffettbride wrote:Haha. Definitely not the first time.
