I have always had cable - but the last time I moved - the cable company could not commit to a date for 3 weeks after my move date - so I tried DSL. They told me that the recently upgraded all of their lines, their servers etc. . They overnighted me the modem and I was up in running in less than a day. The speed was there, however, it interfered with my access to work. I could not access some of my customer's intranet sites - and firewalls kept kicking me out. There might have been some settings I could have changed - but each customer is different - and I couldn't be bothered.
I wish it could have worked. . Comcast is the most frustrating company to deal with.
There are different packages with DSL - obviously the more expensive the package - the faster the speed. You might want to talk with them about their speed vs. cable - and if you can try it for a month. I was able to get my money back on the modem when I told them I could not access work.
