You could always use the old standby-- Come Monday-- good to slow dance to and people that aren't parrotheads will probably still know it.

We're going to have more Buffett at the rehearsal oyster roast/barbecue. The guy playing there does a fair amount of Buffett in his regular show. I don't think the band at the reception knows much Buffett. My fiancee likes Jimmy, but I wouldn't classify her as a parrothead.

Only 2 songs! Hmmm..one of them has to be Christmas Island.

If the wedding's around the holidays, I agree! Except I'd pick HO HO HO and a Bottle of Rum-- that song just makes me want to bop all over the place!

Yet another reason to go with a DJ for such occasions...

I'm a live music kind of guy, and the band we picked is very good.

She's almost perfect....yes i said almost.....ok so she's not a buffett phan....well let me go one further....she can't stand him. As they say, i'm a little bit country, she's a little bit rock and roll.... I Know how can a phan like me wind up with someone that really dislikes JB. It happened and something like buffett won't keep us apart.....i go to the concerts with my friends (and some of hers) and she shakes her head as she sees us in the crazy hats, grass skirts etc ..... hey i'm not going to change and i don't expect her to.

so heres the thing.....during the wedding reception, she has told me that i could play 2 JB songs.....and she'd even dance with me to one of them. I've got a few ideas that i'll list, but if anyone had anything else i'm open for suggestions:

Coast of Carolina (this one means alot to me....and it fits us)
Love and luck (we met on line and that was my headline)
Presents to send you
Someday i will

any thoughts/suggestions?
Easy one...Come Monday.

Ballgame.

When my wife and I got married we had a piano player play as we met the guests after the ceremony. I brought along my Jimmy Buffett songbook and he learned how to play some songs from the music....so our wedding video has Jimmy Buffett music in the background. And of course Come Monday was one of the first songs we danced to.[/b]

Being the smartass I am, I'd go with Happily Ever After and Love and Luck.... then slip the DJ a 20 to toss in WDWGDAS for the last song and deny all knowledge.

My first thought was Lovely Cruise (it's not a break up song). You definitely don't want to play pre you   Love in the Library is nice
If you want a song that isn't Jimmy's try HAPPY by bruce Springsteen it's a great song, it's fitting for a wedding check that out you will like it.

How about Caribbean Amphibian (Jimmy's duet with Kermit), Who's the Blonde Stranger, and If the Phone Doesn't Ring It's Me?

Or seriously, at our reception we played Happily Ever After, Tin Cup Chalice, and Far Side Of The World (my wife and I met after I returned from 27 months in Africa in the Peace Corps).

Good luck!

I know that this is a crazy idea but ask her to help pick out the 2 songs and find something that she doesn't hate. I have to admit I'm a little worried that she is only allowing you two Buffett songs. Is she only allowed to pick out two songs? This reminds me too much of my ex-wife when we were planning our reception. I wish you all the happiness and hope that this love lasts a lifetime.

well since you say "she's almost perfect", then how about "The Perfect Partner"?
It's an often overlooked song but it's great and a good upbeat number if you wanna get your boogie on.

Blue Heaven Rendezvous- if you don't really listen to the words , it sounds like a great love song.

well she's a big u2 fan so she's only allowed 2 u2 songs, i get 2 buffett songs......then we agree on others....

the perfect partner.......totally overlooked that one as well.......She does like coast of carolina and the lyrics totally fit our situation......Maybe those too and a pay off to the dj will get a few others

:D

I think this is an excellent idea. Maybe at least those two songs will become special to her then.

With a little love and luck you will survive!!

Congratulations!
