Christmas Give or Receive

Since it's getting cold here in the North East and the snow and Christmas is just around the corner there are only 86 Shopping days left until Christmas. Has anybody started Christmas shopping yet. Share some gift Ideas for those of us who can never find the right gift....
What does everybody think. Do you like to give or receive (monkeyboy get your mind out of the gutter) Christmas is a great time to spend with family and friends. I realy enjoy giving gifts because usually you give a gift that somebody wouldn't go and buy for themself and I enjoy seeing the reaction on their face when they see the gift. For example, last year I bought my brother about 10 or so Jimmy CD's that he didn't have so he could complete his collection, he loved it. Getting gifts is also nice because getting something new for free is always good.

Hey Mike! Ya know I love you, but if you start a Christmas thread when it's still only September ever again I'm going to kick your nads into your throat! :-? :-? :-?

And I like to give and receive. I guess you could say, I play for both teams! :P :P

I look forward to the day after Christmas; when all the hustle and bustle is over and I can enjoy my college bowl games! 8)

I love FINDING the "perfect" gift for someone......that makes me very happy......but I also love receiving a gift that I know someone has put a lot of thought in to....

I hate that there are Christmas decorations already out at the stores.....makes me CRAZY.

I love the “idea” of Christmas.... the memories, the tradition, the pageantry, the excitement, the smells, the parties....... But December 25... Christmas as we know.... has become so commercialized, absurdly expensive and more of a chore than a celebration of why we celebrate Christmas in the first place. I do not give in to it any more.

Having grown up in the church so to speak... I loved the music, the friendship, the message.... but I haven’t gone to church regularly in 20 years. During that time my views of Christmas have changed..... It has turned into another Hallmark Holiday of which I try very hard not to succumb to.

Instead of sending gifts to every person in the family tree...I send family gifts which can be enjoyed by all. I send 50 Christmas cards instead of 500. I do an informal family gathering by the pool serving burgers and margaritas instead of preparing the traditional meal of the year! I provide for a selected charity. I volunteer. I GIVE!

And sure.... if I get a few boxes with baubles in them... I love it! And if I don't ... that's ok too.... Because the pleasure for me is in the fellowship, the giving and the spirit.

Sorry to be Uncle Scrooge, but Christmas is just another day to me.
If I really like someone I'll go out of my way to give them a gift anytime of year. That's what I enjoy doing.

I love giving presents, but I'm not very good at it.

I LOVE getting presents and surprises though.

Just another day here. Running around, putting hundreds of miles on the car trying to visit all the relatives that you could care less about, trying to appease everyone. Seems to be a lot of hoopla over just a day or two.

Pole McScrooge here.

Give, give, give - love to find the perfect gift, wrap in interesting ways, type up hints for the present, etc.

I love Christmas......we decided a many years ago that we would make it a holiday to spend with the folks we WANT to.....we let go of family obligation several years ago.
Christmas Eve is always spent with a large group of friends.....lots of food and drink. We give lots of gifts and there are always a lot of raunchy gag gifts......and lots of thoughtful gifts, too.
This year we are doing "family portraits" for everyone. We're getting together (the friends) and have a portrait done of all of us. We've decided we like our 'quasi' family much better than our real families.....it's good for us.

Christmas morning is always 'just us'.......hubby, the keet.....whichever grown up kids want to come over.....homemade cinnamon rolls and "Chrismtas Island" on the stereo!

I am one of those people who love Christmas. I collect Santas and ornaments and buy them wherever we travel.

I love finding the perfect gift for someone, and I love getting gifts.

Last year, BN made my holidays with cards and gifts. And I started my BN shopping in South Carolina, it is harder to find tropical gifts in Ohio.

I believe that Christmas is what you make it, and if you want to skip it, that is fine too.
