I work in Yellow Pages. Five years ago Tattoo's was ourt fastest growing heading. Now Laser Surgery-Tattoo Removal is one of our fastest growing.
I just can't imagine my child sitting on Grandma's lap trying to figure out what horrific image the saggy tattoo has morphed into

I know quite a few people have several tats....and also multiple piercings...
But for those that have had tats for any length of time...how do the tats age? I mean do they slowly / eventually fade to just the old dark blue color? I have been told by several people the inks used now will last a long time and "might need an occasional touch up" but no one has given me any definite answer....

I'll put them in the basement with my hula hoop, mood ring, earth shoes and pet rock.CaptainP wrote:What happens if, 5 years from now, it is trendy to NOT have any tattoos? What will everyone do then?
Seriously, I'm over 50 so I don't really give a crap if it's trendy or not. I just got to a point in life where I decided I was going to do things that I wanted to do and not be limited by what I was "supposed" to be doing or what others thought. (Coulda been the mid-life crisis talking.) So I bought a Harley and, by law, if you have a Harley you gotta have a tattoo. So I got one. And then another. And now I'm a total reprobate. But I like the tats, my wife likes 'em (she got one, too) and my kids think I'm nuts (what the hell do they know, they're 20-somethings). We are the people our parents warned us about.
... yes, its true ... I am alphabits' evil twin-

I have heard that too..... does sunscreen help protect them ?? How long have you had your tat(s)Zuke wrote:The sun is a tattoo's worst enemy.........mine is never really exposed to the sun, so I haven't seen any significant fading, it still looks very colorful.
One thing that seems to be a "trend" in tats now is people getting the "tribal" ones.... or barbed wire.....

I have 2 right now, a 3" winged wolf with Sycha underneath on my left leg, and a 3 1/2" unicorn on my right leg with Dravenhara underneath. Will be getting 2 more when I'm have some time off around Christmas.
I barely ever get sun so I've managed to keep them looking as dark as they were when I got them.
It took me a good many years to decide on what I wanted, and they are meaningful to me (not something I got as a trend or was drunk, etc).

Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all..
