I've worn glasses since I was 8. I only stopped wearing them from the time I was 14 until I turned 16.
When I first went for my driver's license, I took the vision test, and they wouldn't let me leave until they got an optomitrest to come in and make me a pair of glasses RIGHT THERE AT THE MOTOR VEHICLE DEPARTMENT.
They said they'd give a pilot's license to a blind man before they'd allow me to drive without corrective lenses.

I remember in Hawaii, you turned your head and the sun hit the back side of your glasses just right and set the table on fire...

Wow! You're both bi!!  Surprisingly, I'm NOT bi in this respect, but I am freakishly near-sighted with a horrible astygmatism.

I've needed corrective lenses since 4th grade.
I got contacts in college because galsses and microscopes don't mix well, and I've stayed with them ever since. (Luckily I didn't have any problem with them when I lived in Colorado. )
I do remember the opthamologist telling me when I hit 40 everone else will be getting reading glasses while my eyes would start improving ... somehow the bifocal thing never entered his conversation :-? So far I've done okay without them by getting cheap-o readers to use with my contacts :D but I'm not sure how much longer I can get away with that!

I look like such a dork in my glasses :x :x but the dry air here just makes wearing them a whole day simply miserable.

I had no problem wearing them in Mexico or Virginia though.

got glasses at the end of kindergarten---severely farsighted. tried contacts in high school and was absolutely miserable. went to bifocals at 40 (my opthamologist says eyes tend to change at 40). my eyesight is so bad that at this point my doctors do not recommend surgery, though sometime soon it will be a better risk than it is now.

I've worn glasses since 6th grade  It was a wonder to see that trees had leaves :o anyway, now I have lineless trifocals - so I can (sometimes) see the tv, puter and read.

Have any of you ever taken your glasses off and then couldn't find them? I hate it when that happens! (Not that I had been drankin of anything)

I'm totally like Velma on Scooby Doo when I can't find my glasses...and it would be fun to make out with Daphne.
