I use to think it was my job to convince the whole world to listen to JB. Now I know, to each his own. I have a person at work that thinks every thing in my life is JB, even the reason for going to Key West. I've tried to tell them it's not JB, but the people I get to meet. She just  . But I agree, Either you get it or you don't. And if you don't, then more tickets for the PHANS :D

since my fiancee hates jb :-? ....I think i have a pretty good handle on this subject.

Some people don't get the JB experience.....If you listen to him, most of us agree that theres more talented singers, guitar players then jb (sorry folks but its true)....However, i've said this a thousand times, but being a phan is more than loving his music, its loving the lifestyle and the feeling you get when you listen to him...Personally i think jimmy captures certain peoples hearts because they can relate to his stories. We shouldn't be upset when people don't understand this, we should just accept that they aren't into it. Its not because they have bad taste in music, its that they don't get it....and thats cool. We won't be able to change their minds (cause god knows i've tried to change hers) just don't let our minds get changed. My fiancee and myself have an unwritten agreement which is basically i won't try to change your mind, you don't try to change mine..

and btw-- pearl jam commercial bs....wow, thats way off base!

Not sure if that is directed at me or not but yes, I do. What does that have to do with this conversation anyway?

Unless I'm mistaken, I think he was poking fun at himself, and not directing the comment to anyone in particular. And it has everything to do with the conversation, since the original poster was talking about his friends that don't "get" Jimmy Buffett.

As for me, I don't push Jimmy on anyone, but many many people have identified my obsession, and even though they're not into him, they always call me or clip articles or share Jimmy info they come across. In most cases, I already know, but I appreciate it all the same!

And even others who find my enthusiasm strange yet entertaining, give me cool Buffett-related items that they come across in different ways - they figure I'll appreciate it more than they do... t-shirts and Corona stuff won at bars, or Margaritaville souveniers from vacations, handbags made from album and album cover, etc.
Those closest to me, tease me about it most of the time, and sometimes find it aggravating, but condone it when all is said and done.

I told her that the next time her serious musicians made that type of an impact on their world and their communities, then she could brag. but until they did she needed to learn to keep her mouth shut about things she knew nothing about. I then took my parrot purchases to the checkout. told the manager who was running the register that his employee needed a muzzle till she learned what she was talking about. and left the store.

Hmmm ... and he is SUCH a successful "real" Musician that his wife has to work stocking shelves in a Walgreens...

Not to mention one who apparenlty doesn't consider Jack Johnson, The Neville Brothers, Bob Dylan & Joan Baez, (tho their version of APL@40 bites) to be "real" musicians either. ... and those are just off the top of my head

My wife didn't "get it", went with me to a show, continued to listen and observe, and eventually "got it"!

Each in their own time and own way. Me....I've shamelessly exposed my kids to JB at a young age, and guess what????? They "get it"!!!!!!
