I was somewhere in my 30's ........ My mother went grey early - I thought I would, but I didnt. I did not colour my hair until I "had to" ....

I wish I didnt have to colour my hair - money I dont want to spend

We have more white hair in the genes than grey... my dad was completely white haired by around 30, and my middle sister and brother both followed his example.

My mom has some grey, as do I when I'm not highlighted blonde. I do it to have more fun though, more than to color over the grey. To me, whatever will be, will be.

Early to mid 40s for me, and it is salt and pepper at 50, with the dark still winning. So far no signs of hair loss though; I don't mind it going grey as long as there is plenty of it!
I've heard it said that "Some turns gray, and some turns loose..."

My dad didn't turn gray until about 75, so I've got good genes... Still natural hair color, blond to brown depending on how much sunlight I get.
Not to bust your bubble but I've heard it said many times that if you want to know how your hair will turn out, look at your mom's dad's hair. That's the pattern your hair will follow if your a man. I think it's for just men. I'm not sure.

Yes, that's true, I think you're partially right... It is a gene carried through the women, so it would NOT be my mom's dad, but rather her mother, which would predict baldness. You have to look at the brothers. My mom's brother is balding, and all my brother's are too, but my dad never was.

So I am carrying the balding gene. My son is out of luck!

Now, my mom's hair turned gray very early, yet I am well into my 40s and have no gray hair, so what's up with that?

Started with a grey streak when I was sixteen. I had dark brown hair. Didnt add any more till my late 20's. Colored it during my late 30's and early 40's. By then it was completely silver and I had to color it every 3 weeks to keep from looking like a skunk!! My hair grows extremely fast. By the time I was 47 I decided to save the time and money & now it is silver and I have people ask me if I "have it done"!!! :o I ask them...would YOU pay to have hair like this?? But I do get compliments on it. BTW..I have hair EXACTLY the same color and texture as my dad...he was completely gray in his 30's!!

I started greying about 30 and started losing it at the same time. Right now I'm just happy to have any and I don't care what color it is. 8)

My grray...dunno...never seen it. :o I'm SURE it's there but I refused to see it. L'Oreal 9 1/2 A thank you very much!

Funny true story...
Hubby came it last night and asked me to look at his hari just at his temple. "Do I have paint in my hair? ( he had been painting)
"No Honey...that's gray!" Then I laughed my butt off. Poor man. But as a blond, he honestly didn't see it as gray.

I've had a white stripe in my hair for a few years. It's getting worse, but my grandmother had all white hair before she was 30, so a stripe's not that bad. I think I'm going to dye it turquoise blue so it at least looks intentional.

A couple greys have just started showing up.

I attribute it serial bachelorhood, no kids, no mortgage, and a devotion to good times! :D :pirate:
Yeah, sounds like a stressful life.
