Does anyone know if there are plans to turn "Joe Merchant" or "Salty" into a movie. I am a producer amd am looking to turn these two books into films.

Have heard of nothing. Buffett's only recent film work was on "Hoot".

Jimmy had done a lot of scouting for locations for Joe Merchant, but it never came to anything.

The rights are already owned for both books. Frank Marshall owns one of them (can't remember which one).

Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy picked up the rights to WIJM in 1994, and I suppose they still have them. There has been no progress in production.

I do not know who might own the rights to ASPOL.

Jimmy does. Word is he bought the rights from "himself" to make sure if it ever does get done he'll have a say in how it's done.

jimmy has alluded to differences of opinions on how to make joe merchant as the reason the production stalled. he's taken the position that since he doesn't need the money he wants to do it his way or not at all.

I dont know, but Jimmy Buffett is taking Producing credit for "Hoot" coming out in 2006. Don't know anything about its story or anything, but it's going to star Luke Wilson.
