Would you visit the North or South Pole?

Post by Sam »

If you were given the chance to go to either one, would you go? Say everything was paid for and arranged.
This is a serious question about going some place that is as alien to most people as the surface of the moon or another planet...

Did you know there are parrotheads in Antartica?

It is not about hating cold or loving tropical weather..... it is just simple question of would you visit there if you had a chance. If yes, why would you like to. If no, why not (besides the usual IT IS TOO FRIGGING BLEPING COLD!!!!)

They occasionally have flights from Australia to the South Pole and back - no stopping, just a flyover and back - that is how I think I would go to the South Pole - no intention of getting out and freezing!

That is KEWL and I was not aware of that. The only flights that I am aware of, that actually land there, are military flights.. Thxz for the info! 8)

They are normally for "special events" - like to see the New Year in etc

If the global warming thing is really happening, i'm sure Antartica will be a happening place in a few hundred or so years :-P I hear it's already becoming more popular among treasure hunters and stuff.

I'd like to visit the North Pole. I could take the Polar Express and hand deliver my Christmas wish list to Santa.
Forget the South Pole. The penguins don't have anything I need.

I said yes to the North Pole thinking if Santa can do it so can I. Then I clicked on the web cams and decided I am more of a follow the equator guy. :D

My biggest fear is that when I die, my wife will sell all my Buffett stuff for what I said I paid for it!
