Looks to me like both this one and the upcoming FLL benefit are designed to favor locals, since they're such short notice. Nothing wrong with that. Just as long as the next one is in Newport, RI... :P

You mean back when watches had hands, shoes had laces, phones had cords and dials, and gasoline only came in two varieties (Regular and Super)?

Sorry, I have no recollection of such a time.

(Although I'm pretty sure I was there.)

If you pay those prices for a couple of tickets you'll be brokest.

How can it be a "surprise" if it's being announced here? Just sayin'...

Surprises like secrets are hard to keep. This is not listed yet, however, the ticket brokers already know what seats they will have to sell???? I know this straight from the source.

In the past Jimmy has sold out the Catalyst in Santa Cruz and The Great American Music Hall under the name Freddy and the Fishsticks with only 24 hours notice. I know this because I was lucky enough to attend three of these shows.

Neil Young sold out 5 unannounced shows at the Warfield in San Francisco playing with Booker T and the Mgs. Each of these shows was announced at the previous nights show. "We will be here tommorrow". Following his 5 day unannounced run at the indoor venue of the warfield, he announced that he would be playing the next day at the much larger outdoor venue The Concord Pavillion in Ca. This show also sold out with less than 24 notice.

Tom Petty Sold out 20 nights in a row at the fillmore with only 24 hour notice.

The music scene in the San Francisco Bay Area has a long running tradition of "surprise" shows, that only get 24 hour notice and still sell out. The Dead and Jefferson Starship sold out the Polo fields (over 110,000) tickets with only 4 days notice. There is a reason that San Fran was the Mecca of the music world, the tradition continues.
