I believe it's perfectly acceptable as long as you call them by their full name: Richard Cranium.

It sufices to say that name calling is not a good practice to use on this board.... its serves no purpose other than to instigate problems.... and its brushing a bit close to the rules.....

No matter how you type it or say it, I think if you call someone a name, it's offensive.

I'd refrain from calling anyone anything, and / or making a mockery of it.

How about if you are just joking around with someone and it is clear that its just a joke?

I also cannot imagine why you would even ask the question. If something starts to get confrontational with someone, just end the discussion. I have had some heated disagreements with someone on here, and yet we have managed to do it respectfully with no name calling.

I love a lot of the political conversation on this part of the board, but when I see it is a heated topic that is getting people really worked up, I stay away from it rather than add to it.

I want to welcome you to BN---there are some great people here, and I have never had a problem with anyone, including a couple of folks that others struggle with. But I do stay out of the heat!

On your second day, its a little difficult for others to know when you're joking.

But, you just got here yesterday.
Do you know anyone well enough to be calling them names, even as a joke? :-?

From personal experience, the name callers rarely get banned, it is those that get called the names that get banned. It is called the BN double standard. Pointed out clearly by Jahfin.

Obviously you have already used offensive language, you have called others names, and you are still here. I on the other hand will more than likely be banned for pointing it out.
