Searching for moral lessons

Post by Lono »

As I listened to the concert replay last week, I heard Jimmy sing "Permanent Reminder of a Temporary Feeling." It struck me as a cautionary tale and a reminder to be very careful when we try to "cram lost years into five or six days."

My question is this - what other lyrics from Jimmy warn us to be careful with our hedonistic lifestyle? As a parrohead, I try to explain to my non-parrothead friends that our concept is to party with a purpose. Yes, we celebrate with a passion; however, most of us are very responsible in the manner is which we do it. Any other moral lessons from our fearless leader that you can think of?

"Hittin' on the cuties right out of high school, Sixteen may get you twenty..." comes to mind from Livingston Saturday Night. :o

Z-
I kinda laugh at that line too ... but I have to admit it is one of the tunes that I hit "skip" for when it comes on in my car as I am transporting any of the my kids' friends around.

Getting back to the thread topic .. how any "I Used To Have Money One Time". Again, like BoBH ... pretty much the entire song!

Also the line "Moderation seems to be the key" from Barometer Soup.

Morals?!?! We don't need no stinkin' Morals!!!
"Oh all the money that e'er I spent, I spent it in good company.
And all the harm that I ever did, Alas it was to none but me.
And since it falls, unto my lot, that I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call, 'Goodnight and Joy be with you all.'"
