How do you travel ....

Post by creeky »

As I sit here .. car sick from driving a friend home ..... (yes, I get car sick even driving) ..... because of a hearing loss and subsequent loss of balance - how well do you travel?

It really restricts what I can do - I can only ever be a driver .... I have been a passenger on rare occasions - and I usually end up sick (unless I am on a straight road and no stopping and starting).

I can not say nothing bothers me, if I am in the backseat and the driver is really terrible. That can drive me nuts :D but other then that I am fine

I said I travel well, but I don't sew or knit.
I'm usually the navigator, when I'm not driving, so I can stay awake and pay attention :D

when I am driving, I have to pay attention to the activities around me, too many chances to have someone do something stupid and create a diasaster.

When I am riding, I can pay attention to the scenery and learn about it; as well as nap, etc. (driving thru a forest, after the first 10k trees, the rest are statistically not gonna be much different). :)

I can't do the backseat if it's a really windy road. That makes me a little naseous. Especially if I'm hungover (learned that one the hard way).

I have always loved road trips, and have driven all over the country.
I much prefer to drive, and since Lacey can read in the car (I can't) - I either drive or sleep when we travel together.

No car sickness problems... I can pretty much sit anywhere.....but prefer the front seat...... I am a good navigator and a sometimes bothersome back seat driver.... I really try to work on that.....

Mr Topless is a HORRIBLE backseat driver.... so he usually drives if we are traveling together......

Mostly I'm the driver and that works just fine.
I'm OK as the front seat passenger or in the back seat if the road isn't windy.
Forget about reading or any of that stuff in a moving car - if I try that the only thing I'll be driving is the "porcelain bus". :(

I'm sorry Jenny---I hope Terry and I didn't make you sick last time you were here

But usually nothing bothers me---I read, crochet, needlepoint--anything to keep me busy---but I also love to nap. If it is a long family trip, Larry does all the driving.

Since I love to travel - I don't care how I'm getting there. BUT since I'm a tall guy (6'4") I need leg room, whether it be in a car or on a plane. After that, I'm good. I've got an ipod, a puzzle book, a book, and whole bunch of relaxing to do.
"Oh all the money that e'er I spent, I spent it in good company.
And all the harm that I ever did, Alas it was to none but me.
And since it falls, unto my lot, that I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call, 'Goodnight and Joy be with you all.'"

I can sit in the back, but I can't read or do anything that involves looking down or I feel ill. Prefer to sit in front, but not driving.

Same here.

I prefer to drive myself but if the person doing the driving actually knows how to drive I'm OK with just going along for the ride.

Prefer to drive - no car sickness - if passenger, read, do crosswords, talk, look out the window at the scenery.
