I need a Woman's point of view.

Post by diamonddan »

Took me a long time (married 19 years) but I finally figured out that my wife prefers adventures as opposed to presents. Her birthday and Christmas are a week apart, and the last few years, we have trekked out of town (Greensboro, NC)

This year I have an idea, and I'd like some feedback. Thanks

We will leave Greensboro the day after Christmas by train. Arrive at Washington DC's Union Station at 5:30. Check in at the hotel (2 blocks away) and then head towards Ford's Theatre (yes, that one) for a 7:30 performance of A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Dinner afterwards.

The next day, we have the day in DC. Museums, shopping, whatever she wants to do. Train departs at 6:30, and we will be back in Greensboro a little after midnight.

I don't know your wife but I"d love it. I love the dc area. If your wife likes history I would suggest a side trip to Colonial Williamsburg which is really nice for the holidays.

I think you're really sweet to think of it, and since you know your wife you'd most likely know what she'd enjoy. Personally, though (since you asked!) I'd wanna go where it's WARM.

Certainly not a woman, but I've taken the train a few times. Be sure you look at how many stops you have and the total time it takes to get there.

Last time I did the train from DC to NYC, it was such a hassle that we got plane tickets to fly back. The US is one of the only countries where the train tracks cross the roads. This means you have to stop and slow quite a bit. :-?

How thoughtful! I think she'll know how well you know her and how much you appreciate her! :D

I think it's a wonderful idea and more planning than a lot of people do for birthdays and Christmas. Cheers to you!!
