My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who heard at 31 Flavors last night that Jimmy's not touring next year.

well i heard from my friends sisters cousins brother-in-law that his friend knows this guy who has a brother that said he's going to be cancelling everything but alpine next year

Jimmy is no longer going to be playing Stadiums and Ampitheaters. He'll be doing an exclusive tour of CIP locations.

I heard from a guy in a bar that he's going back to playing 4 to 6 shows a week, 8 to 9 months next year. Yup, from a guy in a bar.
I've been hearing "rumors" like this since '92. From retirement to "just taking a year off".
He's got the best job. He plays less than 30 dates a year, whenever and practically anywhere he wants.
However, enjoy it now, 'cause a day will come when our leader will hang it up and then we'll have to.................?

cuz the other night, I was in this bar in TJ, takin' in a donkey sex show (once again
)
and this blonde Filipina transvestite with a glass eye said to me,
"Yeth, it true... Jeemy, he no play San Diego, so he no coming back for 2 years"
oh, and you owe me three dollars, too
I figure, wow.... this really MUST BE true!

This rumor can be put to rest. Last night at the Fillmore Jimmy said, "don't worry, I'm not going anywhere anytime soon." He also said that he would be interested in playing more small venues next year, "perhaps the Avalon Theatre on Catalina Island".
Now I know that this only comes from the mouth of Jimmy himself, and is nowhere near as reliable a source as the kid down the block who's sister said that some guy from out of town who was banging her sister said, that he knew this cripple guy from Chicago, that has info from a good source, his crack dealer, that this crack dealer heard that Jimmy is no longer gonna tour from some florida hooker that claimed to know Fingers Taylor.
But I would consider Jimmy's own words to be the next best source.

I have just one little question. Having been a parrothead for many years and an avid follower, maybe not poster, of this Discussion board, when was the last year there was not a rumour that he was quiting???
