Tonight I just need my guitar

I'll tell ya what offends me.... Driving by a home who has decked the halls..... nice symbolic manger scene in the front yard...and Santa on the d*mn roof and Frosty next to the wise men!

I was raised methodist... am not particularly religious now.... but that just fries me.... pick one...I dont care which one.... just do not mix ' em! Its either a religious holiday or its about Santa and a time for the retailers to make a killing....

P.S. Kwanzaa is a made up holiday. It is only 30 years old. It was created in the USA in response to the Watts Riots in Los Angeles in 1966. It is clear that the 7 principles are seperatist in nature.

I'm not offended. Just don't shove it down my throat. Are we so shallow that the Christmas season has to start in Oct? It's Dec 25. Decorations should be put up and shall come down within a 14 day period of any so called holiday. For crying out loud, Halloween stuff was up in Sept. And what's with the "look at me" lawn oranaments? I really do not need to drive by a house looking at a 6 foot air filled football player, snowman, santa, pumpkins or Homer Simpson. Are these the same people that inform me, via bumperstickers, that their child got an A in preschool?
What offends me is when I look at my shirtless self in a mirror. YEECH.
By the way, happy Easter.

True. There are many countries in Africa and not everyone is dark skinned. I learned that in one of the Leathal Weapon movies.

Hmmm. True again. Just ask the Indians. They didn't follow the "Bible". But they chose not to leave (and no, I'm not talking about the Asian American Indians  ).
I could care less that people use ancient stories as a guide to running their household, but I do ask of the human race that any bible or religion not be used in place of critical thinking.
I thought we all could celebrate beliefs in this country without prejudice. Could we ever? I don't know. I say let folks celebrate what they want without forcing it down others throats. We'll leave that to the followers of the Taliban. If one wants to pray to himself, bow to the southern cross or rock back and forth to the sounds of motown let them. If one doesn't want to, don't make them. So yes you can pray at a moment of silence or pick your nose. The choice is yours, not theirs.
Merry Christmas, unless you are a Muslim, Jew, Commie or just an observer passing thru the galaxy.

The above is an excerpt of an essay published in Field and Stream.

So I spoke too soon ......

Had a meeting today and told we need to be careful not to offend anyone with Christmas stuff.
We are to use the word "Christmas" and not "Xmas" on stuff we sent (I totally agree with this one) but I dont really know anyone here that would be offended with the general use of the terminoligy.

I did ask if we had to get "americanised" and do the "holiday team lunch" instead of Christmas team lunch etc- but assured that we are still ok to do this ..... :D

Four wishes before I die:

1)Meet Jimmy Buffett

2)See the Cubs win the world series

3)Spend a hot, passionate week on Kauai with Sandra Bullock

4)Meet ANYONE who is offended when they hear or read "MERRY CHRISTMAS!"

I think the answer to both is a resounding yes, though the Christmas starting in October, I think, is due to corporate america more than anything trying to sell merchandise.

The only stores that should have any merch. for any holiday more than a month ahead of time should be craft stores, other than that, I don't want to see Christmas trees in Macy's until the day after Thanksgiving.

I really hate, more than anything, that Thanksgiving just seems to get skipped over because of Christmas. I love Thanksgiving.
Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all..

:D :D How can one not love Thanksgiving? There are so many reasons to love Thanksgiving:

-there's no pressure to show up with gifts
-all the family you love (and hate, it's not Thanksgiving without them too)
-football
-you don't have to sing any kind of carols (unless you have those who make up dirty 'Thanksgiving carols')
-FOOD, lots and lots of good home cooked food
Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all..

You HAD to mention family, didn't you?

But, like I said before, I DO love Thanksgiving-in addition to realizing how truly blessed I am (especially when I'm not around certain family members), I can eat like a pig, drink like a fish, watch football, have sex, and not have to get anybody a G.D. gift!
