YEAH!!! what Rick said!!! RICK FOR PRESIDENT!! A pot For every chicken!Cheeseburgers and cold beer for lunch! Tequila and boat drinks for All (or something like that!!) 8)

What does Congress call their time over the Holidays?
What does the calendar call 25 Dec?
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! It is CHRISTMAS DAMNIT!! If you don't like it....don't celebrate it, but at least respect the joy and good tidings and well wishes to all of mankind it brings. If someone want to celebrate winter soltice and go skyclad or if someone wants to celebrate quanza/kwanza/ or whatever it is, or celebrate Hannuka or whatever all that is kewl, too!! But BLEEP YOU and the horse you road in on if you expect me to change the saying "Merry Christmas". I AM NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT AND I AM DAMN BLEEPING PROUD OF IT!!

There was something on the news the other night about the various stores bringing out the items early, was all about marketing and trying to get people's attention, ie their money BEFORE winter hit and the heating bills come in. A guy from some company/store admitted it on camera.
Christmas has become bastardized and made into a marketing tool and they are doing their best to remove the Christmas Spirit and turn it into a money maker....well it has always been a money maker for some people....but people know what I mean. Christmas is a special time of year and brings magic. Some people are doing their best to destroy that magic. If you don't like Christmas then work through break and don't accept overtime pay for the Holiday because you say/believe it is NOT a Holiday.

I will keep saying Merry Christmas until the day I die! Besides there is nothing like a dock party in the summer time with a little tree, listening to JB singing "....Christmas in the Carribean, got everything but snow..." and running around some gifts in a sail bag, and visiting the various people on their boats yelling "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" ( Try it sometime!!!) I wish everyday could be Christmas, but because it isn't or cannot be, it makes me appreciate it even more!!!

What Rick said reminds me of a quote by Henry Cabot Lodge:
Let every man honor and love the land of his birth and the race from which he springs and keep their memory green. It is a pious and honorable duty. But let us have done with British-Americans and Irish americans and German Americans, and so on, and be Americans.
People we are Americans FIRST!!! If you have a problem with that then give up your American Citizenship and LEAVE!!! People are risking their lives and dying to take your place!!!
Meanwhile, MERRY CHRISTMAS,EVERYONE!!!

You know what, I did start goign through that site last night and I was SOO happy to see so many ice cream recipes, and then I saw the liquor recipes, and I can't wait until the weekend. I have a couple of days off next week and I plan on scouring through those recipes. Thanks again for posting that site, I can't believe I never saw it before!

and besides, the words holidays and diet should never be used in the same sentence ;)

Silly parrothead,
Yes!! Ophicially, we actually get 52 weekends of them a year plus anyday that Jimmy Buffett has a concert. Then again since being a Parrothead is a state of being or mind....everyday is a holiday for us!! If you have to work just consider it a working vacation.
That will be two, no make that six bottles of Guinness, please
Next question please.

I am glad you like that site...Now you are gonna need 3 jobs to afford all that cooking and at least a couple of years off to get them done and a much bigger kitchen...LOL

Seriously,I know people that made various liquors usually quite good, some made wine that was of various quality and I have brewed beer that turned out surprisingly well....the recipes I had for some of the liquors called for a vanilla bean....I never found one when I was looking for them and when I was somewhere that had them, I would forget to look....I am gonna try out a few of those epecially the Irish creme...it says it has to be used in six months..hmmmmm that should be no problem.... if it is anygood it will be lucky if it last a week. LOL

Will have to PM you my snail mail you got me drooling for cookies now....hmmmmm wonders what I can concoct in the kitchen......hmmmmm nevermind have to figure out what is for supper tonight... LOL

Oh trust me, I'm covered.

I have made elderberry, strawberry, and pear wine (eh, not outstanding, but okay), honey mead (which turned out surprisingly well!), Irish cream (a lot better than store bought, easy, and I highly recommend anyone trying it). I have never tried making beer, though my brother in law and I are currently trying our hands at hard cider.

Vanilla beans (real ones) are surprisingly easy to get around my way, and I make vanilla extract (FAR cheaper and FAR better than store bought) every couple of months. If you ever need any, let me know. I have plenty of farmers markets and organic/herbal gardeners that live in my area.

Rick,
You got some great views , I will be your campaign manager and you can find me another job you are elected and I have to nominate Sy for the Presidential cookie cooker. Though I suppose I could try out for the official shrimp on the barbie cooker...... and oyster roaster.

We have to work on getting "...oysters and beer for dinner, every day of the year..." accepted by some.... beer has been gettting a bad rep as of late....

Besides I know white South Africans....if we take the term African Americans to mean black people....who have never been to Africa and lived in america all their lives and their families for several generations...
What do we call white Africans that lived in Africa for several generations, that immigrated to America???
Political Correctness and speech BITES!!! Even the Nazis had their own version of it!!!

I just picked up AdAge (an advertising industry pub) and read that Anheiser Busch will be running ads (I'm not sure in what medium - TV, Print, online) about how beer is supposedly, healthy. The idea is that beer is healthier than having nothing at all. It's all a move to combat the high market share of wine. A-B has a 50% of the market, so inorder to increase sales they need to create buyers. All other brewers just need to take buyers from A-B.

Interesting.
"Oh all the money that e'er I spent, I spent it in good company.
And all the harm that I ever did, Alas it was to none but me.
And since it falls, unto my lot, that I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call, 'Goodnight and Joy be with you all.'"
