Now if you can just find a way to get to the Keys.

Swim?
I imagine the airport and roads will be okay by then. The challenge may be in finding a place to stay.

I'm game. Do you think they will let us help? What would there be for us to do? I could spend my vacation working to help clean up after the storm. Count me in!
The Casa already billed my credit card for two nights, I hope they would put me up on a cot for the $600 I paid them.

What a mess! I never thought it would flood that bad as KW has always escaped. But it doesn't take much. Too bad

It may not be a question of whether you want to go or not, they may not let any tourists in for a while..
U.S. 1 HAS re-opened, but note the Tuesday decision on whether/when to allow tourists back in.

Alex has NOT decided weather to cancel MOTM or not. I am hoping and praying NOT. I wanna go!!! But...more , I want the town to recover. If I can help, great. I'd love to. I am TRYING not to be so glum but all I can say is I'm sad.
Maybe tomorrow will bring more cheery news.

Flood waters several feet deep along South Street in Key West.
Flooded Truman Ave., one of the main streets heading south off the island.

What an awesome attitude...Wow...
And if this is what it turns in to...so be it. Can't control Mother Nature. Granted I didn't have plans to go to MOTM...but what better way to meet and interact with BNer's...not what everyone planned...but this IS a giving group...Breezer's got a few "sick days" that could be used for a cause like helping clean up KW...
Have WetVac will travel...

Just gloves and shoes? Might wanna bring some work
clothes, too! At least wear a Speedo....don't wanna get any splinters in your nether regions.
Maybe we should require that if we help cleanup/rebuild, we should all wear our bathing suits. Could be an
interesting sight.
Balconygirls and her new purple birthday thong.....

Well, here's my deal: I attended my first MOTM last year and would love to return this year. However, I coach high school basketball and our first practice is Oct. 31. A friend of mine and I were planning on flying down to Miami on Thursday evening (November 3) and staying with friends and coming home on Sunday. We were actually in the process of searching for plane tickets when I got the email from Alex. I still want to go but we decided we should wait and see what happens. I am afraid it will be too late to get airline tickets when we find out the fate of MOTM. So.....if you go, have fun and work hard. I am sure they will appreciate your help. It looks like I may be staying here until next November.
