Does it taste like 29 dead guys in a bottle?

I don't know, I've never tasted a guy. Dead or alive.

Those guys go for some pretty hardcore brews.
I'm seeing mostly Imperial Stouts, IPAs, specialty porters, and Belgian frooty-broos on that list.
Ever heard of a little thing called lager? (or brown ale for that matter?)

Hands down the best beer ever is the batch you made yourself.
(My Altbier was from an extract recipe and it kicked @$$)

never heard of Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery...

Arrogant Bastard, check
Double Bastard, check
Wisconsin Belgian Red, check
Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout, check
Rogue Imperial Stout, check
Rogue Chocolate Stout, check
Edmund Fitzgerald Porter, check
Stone IPA, check

But I don't notice a lot of variety in the breweries, it's almost like 5 of them get a recommendation for every product (and that isn't right).

Actually, ...
I'm OK with that.

(but I'd rather have the worst beer in the world than the best herbal tea)

I learned to drink on Miller beer, but once I found local micro-brews I pretty much gave up on pilsner beers (Bud, Miller, etc). IMHO pilsner lacks a lot of different flavors, which I find to be part of the beer drinking "experience". Pilsner is good when you want to knock back a few (or a lot) since they tend not to fill you up.

Yup, I'm a beer snob!

And proud of it!! :D

I got hooked on good beer when I lived in DC and could get good beer almost anywhere I went. That's been a big challenge since I moved back to OK--you have to reeeeaaaallllly work to find good beer here.

"Cold" and "not empty" are the first two priorities. After that, I prefer to lagers and ales. :D

When I went to Australia I had Carlton Lager, and it was awesome. Unfortunately, it's not available here in the States - (not even at Peculiar Pub - a place claiming to have nearly every beer).

There is a reason for that..Corona is not beer!!! Corona is nothing but Mexican Rat p***!!!
I have had several that are on the list, though some I haven't heard of.

Super Trooper,
Hmmm the last time I looked at a Budweiser label ( and for many years)...it says it is a lager....Bud is not a pilsner.  8)

The best beer I ever brewed was a pale ale. I haven't brewed any stouts, and I simply refuse to brew lite beer.... that would be redundant!

For people that like beer, brew their own, or are beer snobs, or are curious about beer, check out www.realbeer.com they have a great newsletter to.

Your post reminds me of a dinner I was at an inn up in Maine several years ago...
At the table next to us were several members of the Mondavi family. The service staff was all concerned about whether they had the "right" offereings on the wine list and approached their table with some trepidation. They needed not have worried though, as Robert Mondavi took the lead and asked what locally brewed beers they had available!
