Maybe I am the only one that feels this way, but I really cannot stand her.

She is an ok cook, certainly not a chef. Her expressions are tiresome, her laughter annoying.

As for $40 a day, it is ok, but if I am going to travel, I would rather splurge a bit than have to count pennies.

Not a jealous, cranky old woman, but I just don't see what the guys see in her!

I can see why you feel that way.
The thing about "$40 a Day" that "gets" me is that the tax rates at these resort towns are miraculously LOW, and she tips very, uh..."sparingly." No wonder she can make it on $40.

Oh no, from hearing her in an interview, she's a b****. That doesn't mean she's not nice to look at. 8)

As for the $40 a day, that's more than I've spent (including my hotel) on some vacations. I think its nice to help out the budget traveller, as opposed to those restaurants on the Travel Channel where I can't even afford the water.

She was on a radio station around here and was a hoot, no b***y-ness at all. Seemed really, real.

I don't watch the food channel, I'd rather eat food than watch someone else cook it, but she ain't all that. She's OK looking, but I don't think I'd do a double take if I saw her walk by.

I think Giada is the better looking, more fun of the two. But I can't follow her recipes so from a cooking end she's no help to me. I'm not a good cook and Rachel Ray makes it simple and uses ingredients I have on hand.

I have to agree, but I totally got over $40 when they ate at Bahama Breeze in Vegas (not bad, but you can do better than that in Vegas!!), and the restaurants they chose in Hawaii- all (tourist) places my parents had been and characterized as having mediocre to bad service and food and high prices before they found the good places.

And they had to have spent more on airbrushing than on her fee- she always looks flat chested and pudgy on her shows.

And I'm not jealoous of the attention, but I do want her job!

I'm bugged by the 40. a day over the tip issue. I can't imagine tipping what she does even for bad service.
