Steph and I are staying at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club on I-drive... I figured we'd just get a cab there and back.. According to mapquest it's 7 miles each way... Does that seem as easy as I'm thinking it is?
yes.

I-Drive can back up a little at times, but should be no problem on a Thursday evening. The cab stand at Universal is just below the moving sidewalks into Citywalk. Take the escalator up one level and take the moving sidewalks into Citywalk. Margaritaville is straight ahead on the left just before you go over the bridge to Islands of Adventure.

Thanks dude... I went to M'ville once last year so finding it won't be a problem.. Just wanted to make sure that cab travel is as easy as I was thinking it would be...

There should be cabs waiting at your hotel, and there are always plenty at the Universal cab stand. It will be by far the fastest and easiest way to and from M'ville.

So Disney Shuttles don't encourage ridership to the "competition"? :D

The Disney shuttles are primarily for transportation within Disney property; some do go to International Drive, and some go to the airport. I have never seen a Disney bus at Universal and doubt that I ever will. Disney and Universal are less than ten miles apart and cabs will be your best bet to get from one to the other.

I just called Universal. They will provide transportation only if you are also going to one of the parks. I was wrong... Shane can rejoice!

Definitely go see Cirque De Soleil!!!

It's nothing like I've ever seen. :o GET tickets NOW!!! Don't wait. Sit as far back and towards the center as you can get. If you sit close to the stage you miss lots of stuff going on behind and over your head.

Getting close. Heading down to Orlando this Sunday

Can anybody tell me about Paradise Island? I heard the conference is giving the attendees (all thousands of them) an all-expensive paid night there...but no clue what it is :-?

I assume you mean Pleasure Island. It is in Downtown Disney.... right near Lake Buena Vista... its is a piece of land shaped like a guitar (which you wont realize unless you are looking from the air!!) filled with nightclubs. They have a "New Year's Eve" every night theme where at midnight confetti blows out all over the place from the buildings and trees..... I think there are at least 6-8 different dance/night clubs all with a different theme. Of course there are stores and eateries as well. There is also a big stage where there is usually entertainment. As I recall its about $20 cover charge to enter the island. Drinks are not include in that price.

I would be surprised if they gave you a complete "open" bar... but maybe drink tickets or something.
