Benefit - for my friend's daughter, need help if you can!

Post by MojosMama »

Hey all....I don't get around here too much anymore, due to the new job and the fact I don't have my own private office anymore....

Anyway, some of you may remember me posting about my girlfriend's 14 year old daughter that died in a freak cheerleading accident here in Massachusetts. For those that don't, here's a link to one of the online articles published soon after her death:

http://www.boston.com/news/local/massac ... _practice/

Ashley was a beautiful, caring, healthy kid - and we're all just stunned that this happened to her. I cannot express the grief and horror that we have experienced since August 9th. Watching cheerleaders file through that wake for 8 hours...her family is more than devastated.....

A friend and I are working with Ashley's mom to hold a benefit at the Malden Massachusetts Moose Lodge on Sunday, December 4th. Proceeds will go toward a scholarship, which will be awarded to one of her classmates in 2009, when she should have graduated. If anyone would be interested in making a donation (either funds, items to be raffled, etc.) please let me know. I plan to send an email to my local PH club, and would appreciate it if you'd do the same. I have a digital copy of the request letter, which details the scholarship plans and other donations to be made with funds raised from this event. I can be contacted by email at sandratheterrible@verizon.net to send you a copy of that, if you'd like, or you can PM me for my phone number. And if you're local - SHOW UP!

Ashley did one of her last figure skating routines to Margaritaville.....and she really deserves any help you can give.

Thanks in advance.

Sandi!!!!

It's good to hear from ya. I don't have a lot of funds to donate, but I'll see what I can come up with around the house (besides my keyboard droppings).

Take care, Fly Girl!

Thanks, babe! We've got all of the food being donated, and are working on raffle items and whatnot. I've also contacted all of the radio stations in Boston, and one of the personalities has offered to host. Hall's free (cause I'm a Moose, lol) and DJ's cheap. They've created a cheerleader glitter makeup in Ashley's honor, too and we'll be selling them at the benefit. :D

We're happy to accept anything that people want to donate for the raffle. Bigger items that won't make much sense to raffle off here (we received a $500 package for a golf course that's in Texas, I think) will be put up on Ebay, with all proceeds to go directly to the scholarship fund. Since there will be a lot of high-schoolers at the benefit, we're trying to make sure that we have a good mix of baskets and items for both adults and teenagers. Several cheerleading organizations across the country are sending us baskets. Ashley touched so many people, we're amazed by the generousity we've seen.

Here's the link to the blue glitter makeup that yofigirl is selling in Ashley's honor:

www.myspace.com/yofigurl

All proceeds are going to the scholarship, and the woman who runs the company is sending us 100 pots to sell at the benefit. If you know a cheerleader who uses this stuff - PLEASE give this woman your business...she's unbelievably kind. :D

As for the paypal account, I have one, but I'm not sure if it's set up to receive payments. Would anyone knowledgeable about that care to help me out? :o

I'll be getting back to the people who PM'd me in a day or two, (when I have time for more than a quick note) and thank you all for your support!
