Yes. A few times for stitches and broken bones as a kid. Nothing as an adult.

Besides childbirth....strep throat (it was really, really bad) or broken toes.

Once. was out in my BILs jet boat; I was up front when he did a whip turn which threw me head first into the opposite side. Had to go to the ER to get my head stitched back together.

Tore up my back water skiing. Truly couldn't move the next morning, it was about two weeks before I could walk without a cane.

Twice for acute tonsilitis. Had difficulty breathing and was in severe pain so I went to the ER to get good drugs.

The tonsil thing was pretty bad! But I would also have to say when I dislocated my hip the first time... that sukked.

When you think about what he looks at every single day and how many of them he looks at... it's just another body part to them. But he was awesome and the nicest doctor ever.

Never for myself, but I've accompanied alot. My brother used to get stitches all the time. Once because we were playing in the bathtub w/ rubber gloves on our feet and another time because I pulled him naked out of his crib-- he was an infant and I was only about 3-- and "it" got stuck and torn on the side of the crib-- I think that's my earliest memory!

An earache in college-- I was bawling it hurt so bad, but it's the only one I've ever had.

Many times, all as an adult and all from playing sports. Off the top of my head - shoulder separation, broken wrist, a couple of broken fingers, torn ligaments in ankle and concussion from doing a face plant against the outfield fence in a softball game and knocking myself out.

The torn ligaments in my ankle. Not only did it hurt like hell, when I heard them snap I thought my ankle was broken because I didn't think anything but a bone breaking could make a sound like that.

Yes. When I broke my arm at age 9, broke my leg at age 11, and a kidney stone attack in 1985 at age 33.

Twice for myself....once when I got kicked in the face by a horse (ouch) and once when I had an adverse reaction to an antibiotic.
Too many times to count with my mother in law, who is chronically ill....

Three times--once in 8th grade for a splinter that went deep underneath my fingernail (uck), once my senior year in college for a sprained ankle (fell down some stairs--totally sober, too), and when I was 24 I had appendicitis and had to have my appendix removed.

Childbirth. Hands down. Can't even think of anything close.

3. If you could choose your doctor, do you prefer someone of the same or opposite sex? Doesn't really matter to me. My OB/GYN has always been male (I've had a few) and I've been happy with all of them.

5. Would you prefer to go to the doctor, the dentist or go sky diving? Can I choose none of the above? If I HAD to pick, I'd say doctor, but only b/c I really like my docs, I guess. But really, none of those options are appealing to me.

Raising a teenaged girl is pretty painful, too!

Mine is all too recent--only 7 months ago. I still remember most of it too well. It's starting to fade, but slowly....

I figure women have to forget what that's like or else they would never have more than one kid.

Yep. Stitches a few times due to tragic interactions between the basement steps and my cheekbone, an 8 iron and my forehead and a razor knife and my finger. Multiple ankle sprains and a shoulder injury.

Oddly enough, one of the ankle sprains. I think it was the 3rd time I sprained the same ankle in the same summer - my whole foot and ankle turned purple.

Yep, but fortunately not since I was little. Running through the house, tripped and smashed my face/mouth up good on the footboard of my bed.

Would depend on the kind of doctor. For just general practice or anything above the waist or below the knees, it wouldn't matter. But anything involving the groinal type area, I think I'd want a guy. My wife is the only woman who gets to play around down there.

I have a bottle in my desk, but very rarely actually remember to take one.

Dentist. It doesn't take long and then you're good to go until the next time. If I'm going to a doctor, it means I'm sick. And if I'm going skydiving, well, that's just not going to happen.

Many times. First time with a severe reaction to a wasp sting when I was 12. Another memorable time in 1999 when I tore my ACL running and playing with my dog and tried to stop. Knee turned backwards and heard that memorable popping sound... Felt like rubberbands jumping around in my leg. Oh yeah, also when I cracked the same kneecap six years earlier, tripping down steps to concrete carport. Most recent time last month when I was stung by a hornet. Decided to just come home and take Benadryl. Went to the ER on vacation a couple years ago when I slammed my thumb in car door on the way back from Key West.

Recovering from each of five abdominal surgeries in the 1990s. The C-section one was the least painful. Most painful was one in which I lost a baby.

I have a bottle in my kitchen, but rarely actually remember to take one. Try to remember to take Calcium and Glucosamine, too.
