North Country was a very moving story. I had to keep reminding myself that is happened so long ago and how things have changed. It's about women working in the strip mines in Minnesota.

The relationship that Josey Aimes, the main character had with her family and friends was amazing moved me to tears many times. The acting was obviously excellent, but so is the story. Movies based on a true story are always so moving. Charlize Theron was great and I enjoyed seeing Woody Harrelson and Sissy Spacek.

I also enjoyed the soundtrack so much. The last song, Path of Victory, by Bob Dylan, was covered by Cat Power and IS powerful. Lots of great songs.

Lord of War. Interesting film about a guy who gets his start in Little Odessa, NYC selling submachine guns and graduates to brokering big deals to west African despots.

Jodie Foster is one of my favorite actresses, but Flight Plan was tiring and too suspenseful to end with me thinking it was just too unbelievable.

I saw "V", I really liked it, they made such a big deal out of Natalie Portman shaving her head, but the whole scene lasted like 2 seconds in the actual movie.........I guess it will be a huge feature on the DVD.

If you've ever sought further insight into this very gifted but also very troubled songwriter, it's all right here.

The trying to talk while on Quaaludes scene towards the end is one of the funniest things I've seen on film in long, long while.

Not that this one was bad but I believe I liked the first one better. Andy Serkis said in a recent interview that they plan to eventually tie the new series in with the original movies (no surprise if you saw Rise). Hopefully, they'll be able to get through it without any duds. While necessary to tell the story, the original series seemed to have lost steam after Escape.

While a bit long at 2 hrs, 44 mins, definitely one of the more unique movies I've ever seen.

I liked the movie but at three hours it was a bit long for me. Probably could have cut a couple things without affecting the movie.

It's not been a good year in the skateboarding world with Chris Yandall, Shogo Kubo and now, Jay Adams all passing away this year. In 2001, Stacey Peralta released what is, to my mind, the best documentary on skateboarding that's ever been made. When I was just a little kid I started out liking football but that all changed one day when one of my older brothers attempted to recreate a plexiglass skateboard he'd seen in Surfer magazine. All the Dogtown skaters profiled in this movie are worthy of note but there was just something about Jay that set him apart from all the rest. He was just a born natural. Unfortunately, his outlaw lifestyle caught up with him more than once but it appears that it was a heart attack over the weekend that did him in. He was 53.
